help finding a good store module/script

Can anyone recommend a good web store package, I have unique adult products I want to sell but as I am testing the market I want something that will work with Paypal but be scalable for a merchant account. Something that will be easy to integrate into a site.

I apologize as I am pretty new at this, but is it just a script that allows you to put a cart from your store on your other pages?

    Thanks in advance

    Virtuemart is worth considering, too.
If we're talking about downloadable products, then I'd check on Ezypal, especially built to support Paypal processor.

I dont know wether or not the software suggested (thanks) was low end or if it was just that I couldn't find a nice looking shopping cart built with them.

I was looking for something like X-cart, preferably cheaper if possible but with all the extras, affiliate programs, featur product, rewards programs and many shipping and merchant options.

You will find all that and much more in OSCommerce, plus its free. Might be complicated to apply extensions for unexperienced users but its a great package.
Zencart is similar but much easier to maintain and its also free, as far as i remember.

I know a place where you can download, install and experience X-Cart Gold 4.0.18, PM if interested.

Virtuemart. It's products can be set as "downloadable goods" and then I guess you can offer them for download. Supports most common payment processors so there should be no issue collecting the payment. Is a bit complex to configure, but once you're done, things will look too good to you :)

Customizing the template can be a hassle (I have done this for a customer). Afterall, all it takes to realise it is a good script is learning where stuff is and how it functions. I like it. And it's free :)

What if I just want to sell one or two ebooks. Is there anything simpler, so that I don't have to set up an entire ecommerce system?

Sure, installing a giant ecommerce system for a 2 ebooks sale is not worth the effort. I would rather place paypal pay buttons on the site and deliver the ebooks manually in that case. Don't know any other free scripts to hell you with that. Well, I have ezypal installed and customized on www.pxam.com you won't tell it's ezypal if not for the copyright. I've done calculations over calculations before buying, now I think it's well worth the money. A few small issues with the installation but those are in the past now. I'm happy cusromer now ;)
