Help do my keywords matter? (phpBB3 related)

Well I watch my site closely thru webmaster tools on google and keep an eye on "Top search queries" well I don't see many of the keywords I want there. Often there are keywords I have never declared there. Well thru my phpBB3 Board Settings I have my Global Keywords declared and I have the setting for Page Generated keywords turned off. Am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated as I am still new to this.

It was a toss up posting this here or under the Google search engine forum so I hope I chose the right one :)

This only shows that you have not done the necessary analysis for your site. You need to understand what people search for on search engines to arrive at your niche. When I say your niche I do not mean your site. FOr example say your niche is Cars. Then you need to study and understand what are all the keywords that are used by individuals to to get to site related to cars. Based on that you need to optimize your site with relevant keywords. I hope this helps.

Yes it does thanks. Do you have any understanding of how the "Page generated keywords" function works? Should I keep it off and just use my global keywords?

I think I'm right in saying that what you're referring to is automatically generating a keyword tag? In which case, it's not much use to you, Google haven't read the keyword tag for years, and if you look around the forum you'll see a few people running round like headless chickens because Matt Cutts recently mentioned this.
You need your keywords in page titles, headers, content, navigation and anchor texts
