Ok, for those of you big screen TV owners (and techy guys) I'm in the market for a TV.... - I'm willing to spend between $2,000-$3,000 for the TV - I want between 42"-52" (preferably 50-52) Picture quality and reliability are the two most important things. I can get about 10" of extra TV screen (for the same price) if I go with DLP over LCD... So my question... Which brand(s) are known for great picture quality and reliability. This is a good sized purchased and I don't want to regret it. I'm leaning towards a DLP 1080P Samsung. What are your suggestions and what should I know before buying? Thanks guys!
I kinda like the one located at the Yo Yo Conspiracy If I had it to do again, I would save some bucks and go http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1648787&Sku=S223-5014 vs. say: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1621483&Sku=S203-5008 Virtually the same picture at half the cost. Though the Plasma kicks butt. Damn do they give off heat though!
I noticed samsung and toshiba both have very good reputations for DLP. And samsung has the DNIe technology... Such a tough decision! And plasma isn't a consideration... well because they are completely unreliable and they don't last...
Well, I think you'll get a DLP for the same price as an LCD but with 10" more. However, DLP is the poor mans plasma, it's very grainy and dark and not to mention big. I would go for an LCD. I would strongly suggest you check out a television shop as they'll have them compared in the flesh. You'll see how different LCD and DLP picture quality is. You'll also notice that 50" LCD are pretty rare and a lot more expensive than 42". However, I originally wanted a 60" but realised it would look pretty stupid on my wall since I only watch the TV from a few metres back (it's too big). Right now I've got my mind set on a 50" LG LCD for $5000, but waiting to see how much Sky are charging for HD before I buy. Brands: LG (I'm sure LG supply every other brand), Sony, Samsung, Toshiba and Panasonic. As with other electronics, you'll pay a lot more for a Sony and less for a Panasonic.
I love my DLP and would not switch for anything ... I have never noticed it to be grainy or dark at all.
Yeah but if you're speding that much you might as well get the best. There's such a difference when it comes to TV's too. My friend has a Panasonic....and it sucks!
Go with LCD longer lasting, can used it as a computer monitor too. I have a 37" Polaroid LCD/HDTV that looks fantastic. Costs about $1,699 the one with detachable side speakers. http://www.bizrate.com/televisiontv...7__mkt_id--37045541__qcid--3916992144149.html
56" HDTV DLP for under $2,000 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F2P2T2/002-1945094-0832827?v=glance&n=172282 They can last just as long as any tv.. you only have to replace the bulb every 3 or so years. I think I've made my decision
