Hi, I am currently in the process of revamping a site of mine with a new wordpress theme. The site is based around watching streaming anime online, and I am hoping to have the front page laid out thusly: http://www.animunch.com/ (something similar). The problem is that there is no differentiation between the method of listing posts within categories, and the method of listing recent posts on the front page. Both have full previews of the post and both share the amount of posts listed (I want only two or three on the front page). Ideally my category list will be only text or thumbnail based and will have 20+ posts displayed per page, which I think means I need to create an entirely new page to make this a reality. Basically, I really have no idea where to start on developing the category page, and would appreciate any help. Thanks for any feedback.
Try studying some wp themes that are considered magazine or newspaper themes. Such themes usually have custom homepages where they divide various categories into different columns and the latest one shows at the top.
