Ok so yesterday I switched from DSL to cable to get rid of problems I had, and it's just creating more. I can't login to any of my FTP stuff 90% of the time. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it says :

I'm connected to the internet and everything, but I can't login to my FTP using a bunch of different programs. Can anybody diagnose the problem and how it connects to my cable? I'm on wireless from a new router I just bought.

    Thanks.

I would take 5 minutes to try to work around the problem.
    http://filezilla-project.org/

FileZilla is the only FTP I ever need to use.
    Good luck.

    Edit:

    Oops:
I was responding to this part...
"Fetch (my FTP program) could not get the file list because the connection was reset by the server."

...if you've already tried other FTP programs, then I can't help, sorry.

Are you sure there isn't any FTP problems with the server?

As this sometimes needs reboot, or ftpd restart.

    Is this a firewall problem?

If you need ftp, still, then connect to SFTP using WinSCP.
