HELP!! cant open notepad files after recovery

    I had to recover some of my lost notepad files..and now when i try to open..all i can see is some kinda foreign text like

    »…Âd>¹$|c3öÀH‚ä!°$# ·;@!ËZ`X‘

    what are these?

    please help me..
