Help -- Can no longer access certain files

All of a sudden, today, I can't access any attachments in outlook express. I checked tools/options/security and made sure "do not allow attachments ..." was unchecked.

When I try to save them, I get a error message that says, "There was an error saving. Please check your free disk space and try again." I've checked and there is no problem whatsoever with disk space, plenty of room.

When I try to open the attachment, the message is "windows found that this file is potentially harmful and blocked access."

I can't right click on the attachment either to check it's properties.

And now I see I can't access the "my documents" icon on my desktop and I also cannot access my zip files. I cannot right click on any of my zip folders and check properties.

I've been googling for the last 3 hours and haven't come up with a solution that works.

    Anyone have any ideas?

It's on outlook express 6, Windows XP Pro, SP3

Everything seems to be ok there. Noticed that my .rar files open fine, but .zips do not. And still can't get email attachments to open.

Or you may have a very sensitive anti-virus software that it is preventing you to access certain file types. I once had this problem, with zip and exe files. I just tried turning off the anti-virus software for a while to check. While not running, I can access all my files. I just opted to change the anti-virus software I was using.

    Good luck!
