only issue with shrinking the sidebars is that there are images there that are the width of the sidebars therefore you'd have to reduce the size of the images in order to gain "much" more space... To increase the overall page width would present the same problem for the header / slider and footer images.... :( sorry no quick fix there....

It's not whether or not they should... For this particular case, it appears that the size of certain images were based on the design and overall width of that design.... Basically, if you were to just add the space to the areas, it might affect the overall design elements and images, if you follow what I'm saying... :)

I was merely pointing out that if you have a fixed width area with images that were made, in fixed width, for that area, changing the width of that area affects the images within those areas!! :)

Yes, here is your style css http://equine.recruitmenttestsite.co.uk/templates/equineV2/main/css/style.css
you can find there your sidebar's website witdh, and modify it with file manager on your cpanel.
But if you made the sidebar smaller ypou need to change the widget's images background to fit with the new size.

and just anote, your site doesnot load well in firexox 4-, i tested on firefox 3,6 and does not work well.
