HELP: best apartments in manhattan, NY

I might be moving to Manhattan, NY next month and I'm flying out next week.

Anyone have any suggestions for apartments that I can look at while I'm out there?

They have a ton of stuff.

For starters, can you suggest any apartment complexes that are particularly nice, but still not outrageously expensive in the Manhattan area?

turns out we never met up....but I will be back in NYC this weekend.

I'm trying to figure out which are the good or bad areas in Brooklyn which is where I decided I'll be moving to...
