I use SE friendly urls. My site runs exchange project/os commerce. Message in the network: Ads not found on http://www.spiceplace.com/popup_image.php/pID/283 This is a popup image that only contains a graphic. Is there an easy resolution?
Exclude popup_image.php in the robots file so it won't end up in the index and not called upon for ad verification. That should work unless you want to rank for those pop-ups.
Because of G's delay in updating the index, it might bump into an old pop-up file once every now and then. Just revalidate and hope it tries a normal page. Over time, those files you now exclude will disappear and be left out of the equation.
I had the same problem today, but I included the footer in the pop_up image, because I figuered that it would have to be taken out of the index if I excluded them and it would take really long. Should I just use the robots.txt file to exclude them or is it OK this way?
It's OK that way. Probably even better coz now you have a higher pagecount in the index, thus potentially a higher weight.
