You get traffic when you have a lot of indexed content in Google. That means you have to write more original articles. Build as many backlinks as possible, using your main keywords and linking to inner pages as well (deep links). This way after a few weeks / months (depending on the niche, competitors, etc.) you will start ranking high in the search engines for your keywords and people will find your site (they will eventually click on your ads too).

Original content + SEO + Patience = Traffic

You can go the AdWords way, but it's not free obviously.

I'm sure you will find this reading interesting: http://www.seomoz.org/article/beginners-guide-to-search-engine-optimization ;)

Oh, I didn't know it was an arcade games site. Try to include some written content nonetheless. You can even start a blog and write game reviews or something like that to attract organic traffic from the search engines and then redirect it your your main site.

You can use the following structure:
    www.arcadegames.com/blog
    Code (markup):
I'm sure someone with more experience in this particular niche will share some tips with you as well.

For an arcade site I would recommend trading links with other arcades and add your site to at least 5 top site list sites to help get the traffic coming in. Make sure you add fresh content every week and submit your sitemap to Google, Yahoo, MSN etc and you should start seeing organic traffic coming in.

First you have to find out what are the ways people get traffic. Make a list of them. Then start working on them one by one. Others already mentioned some good ones. SEO in my opinion could get your site steady source of traffic. Then there are:
    - classified ads
    - social networking
    - blog commenting
    etc etc.

Write about the actual video games themselves. That's easy.

Traffic does not mean you will make Adsense money.
For example you can have an image website or movie website and you will get 1000-2000 uniques a day easily but will you earn? No you wont because you will get smart priced and most clicks wont get count and so on and so fourth. If you want to make Adsense money try to work for visitors first before you think about money.
People dont visit ur website to click your ads and make you cash.
If you have good content and people find you through different networks either through search or social websites or other means, then they will actually click your ads because then that click would help them in their research.
I have said this many times before DO NOT GO FOR MONEY, first build a website that is useful to people and something that will get visitors through different means. If you do that then traffic will come and clicks will come.
Putting ads all over your blog and sending mass traffic does no good.

Just in case you want traffic, I recommend you work on link building for your keywords. You can see lots of good guides on link building section over DP.

Also comment on relevant blogs and like i said BE HELPFUL, if you help people they will visit and make ur website go viral this is something people never understand and waste hours trying to get traffic.

Traffic means nothing because one can get few thousand visitors from stumbleupon with few stumbles but u will never make money out of it...

    my 2 cents
