I have had some good results with text-link-ads.

It is neither ppc or ppv, it is simply text links that are put on your site. You can approve all links first, to avoid having unsuitable links added.

It works best with reasonable traffic, reasonable PR sites - I'm not sure if they even accept sites less than PR4, you'd need to check with them.

They keep 50% of the sale proceeds, but still it can be higher then selling them through the forum here at DP, and it's easier for link buyers to find the ideal site to advertise on

You can sign up here Text Link Ads (yes that is an affiliate link);)

(I have PMd you a site name so you can see them 'in action' to get a feel what they look like)

I tried signing up with them, was rejected they said because:
    - Low link popularity
    - Low traffic
    - Already selling text link ads

My site has PR4, Alexa traffic rank about 100,000, and is NOT selling text link ads. I emailed them back pointing out these facts - no answer. Makes you wonder how f*wits like this got to be where they are.

But it hardly seems worth it anyway, does it? If you look at the price TLA lists for many sites with decent traffic and PR it's about $30 per month for a text link ad. And you only get half of that - what's the point?

Lido, I sent you a PM

geomark, the reason I use them is because they can find good appropriate (relevant) advertisers. So on a travel site I get good and relevant travel sites ads showing - the advertiser is happy and I'm happy. And $15 a month for each PR4 link is not so bad, even if they are keeping another $15 themselves

I haven't had the bad experience you talk of, perhaps you caught them on a bad day, or i'm just lucky.

It did take TLA a couple of months to find the advertisers. I think it would take me a lot of effort to find buyers like that on forums etc at $15. If I'm wrong and I can do better elsewhere I'm open to suggestions...

They have really good customer service, I emailed some stats to them on a few of my sites and they instated my inventory. In addition, I had some sites that literally blew up in terms of traffic and went through a PR update. After a quick email they gladly increased the price of my links, very friendly too. :)

    Lido,

you can go to www.alexa.com and enter your site address and it will tell you your alexa ranking - the smaller the better, preferably less than 500,000 say

PR4 - that's google page rank. if you don't have a google toolbar you can go to
    http://livepr.raketforskning.com/
and enter your site address and it will tell you your page rank (mark out of 10, 10 is best!)

there's a LOT about PR (page rank) and alexa rankings on these forums if you search. both are controversial and largely inaccurate and meaningless but text-link-ads use them!

casperl, I sent you a PM

what happens if your pr goes up or down, do they automatically adjust rates? Or do you need to cancel the contract, and re-advertise the link?

I don't know, but cldnails above seems to be saying you might need to email them. I'm sure they want to get as much for the links, same as you do!

Yes, I had to email them. There is no automatic updating, to my knowledge, but the good news is that they are always fast to respond. At least, this has been my experience.

I think you may do better selling links yourself because their fees (50%) is incredibly high for doing nothing other than listing your site, but one thing they do have is a large inventory of potential buyers.
