Can anyone plz explain abt shoutcast to me ?? I know it is for audio streaming but how it works ? Did my computer with internet should be alive for shoutcasting ??? Is it possible to upload the music files to a server and stream from it ??? Help ???
Shoutcast allow you to stream media from your computer or server and others can tune to that station and listen to it. You can either install shoutcast on your localhost(home computer) or on your remote host(your server) . You can use a program like winamp on your computer to play the music.
they have tools in the shoutcast website,read their faq. if you broadcast copyrighted material,read the DMCA about broadcasting(they have some funky rules) and you have to pay royalty fees.its something like $500 a year and .07 a song.
