Help a noob with some basic questions

I created my site about a year ago, but only recently became interested in its marketing, and SERP.
I know that some of my pages are indexed by google, because when i search for a certain phrase on my site, a few pages come up. I'm using h1 tags with the 1st, most relevant text on my page, I'm using keywords in my alt tags, and I've submitted my site to be searched. I even think I may have created a sitemap for google. (I remember the steps I was following were confusing, and I wound up creating some xml doc with keywords, and sticking it in the root...)
I'd like to know if there's a program that will show me my rankings for my keywords because I'm sure I'm to deep in the listings to find with my dialup. I tried using this forums "search engine keyword and backlink tracker", but it comes up N/A for every keyword I type, and it only goes to 200 keywords.

How would you know if your site was removed from googles listings, or sandboxed? And for what reason would this happen? Also does anyone know how long it takes for google to crawl whole web?

    thanks

You should do research. Try this site SEOmoz

DP tool is ok. I use DP and prsearch.net to track my keywords.

You can put the url of each page that you think was removed then again maybe that page is not yet indexed. BTW what is the url of your site?

The Answer is very long check this thread

    Good Luck :D

The Keyword tracker here at Digital point is a good tool to help you look for your rankings for certain keywords.

You need to do some serious lik building your link popularity is only 5

Get some backlinks from directories heres a list you can start from here. Also get backlinks from related websites and read and post frequently on forums like DP (dont forget to put a link of site as your sig with your keyword as your anchor txt) to learn more about seo techniques...

    thanks for your help basoone,
could you explain the link popularity. I've never heard that term before.
Also, how do I add anchor text to sig? I didn't think you could write html code into post. I only know of "insert link" button.

checking out your list in the meantime, thanks again.

Im sorry for the bad grammar Im feeling sleepy last night

Link popularity is the measure of the quantity of (other)site that links to your site.

You can use the user CP for your signature

You can use http://www.googlerankings.com to search up to 1,000 sites deep. It also searches Yahoo & MSN also.

You will need to get a Google API key if you don't already have one.
