I posted another directory that I made on here and got some good responses that really cleaned up the site. I am hoping to do the same with this new one. Since I was getting irrelevant submissions to my forum directory I figured I would create a general directory. Enough babble, here is the site http://www.bluenoserlinks.com Please be as harsh as need be and suggest any additional categories that may be needed Thanks in advance
Maybe someone else can verify this but it isn't loading for me. I gave up after about 40 seconds (I have broadband) What is a "Blue Nose" - Is that a take off of "Brown Nose"?
Your links look like they are Javascript? <A HREF="http://www.bannerboxes.com/trackers/partnertracker2.cfm?partner=0&ta rget=aHR0cDovL21ldGEuN3NlYXJjaC5jb20vc2NyaXB0cy9yZWRpcmVjdC5hc3A%2F dXJsaWQ9MTQxMTE1NTQmYWZmaWxpYXRlaWQ9NjIwMTUma2V5d29yZD1idXNpb mVzcyZzPXBscyZ1PWh0dHAlM2ElMmYlMmZ3d3cuUm9saXN0LmNvbSZyYW5rPTE %3D&alttarget=http%3A%2F%2Fsp%2Equicklister%2Ecom%2F990%2D1%2F% 3F74&quadrant=6cb4bcbf%2Dbc57%2D4b2d%2Da932%2D3355f2807b8f&affid= 25E51C85%2DD86B%2D4F73%2D96CE%2D16B0D16EA740&adid=14111554& memberid=25E51C85%2DD86B%2D4F73%2D96CE%2D16B0D16EA740&bid= MC4zMw%3D%3D&x=MDQvMjAvMjAwNSAwODo1NSBBTQ%3D%3D&keyword= Business&payout=0%2E12375" ONMOUSEOVER="window.status='http://sp.quicklister.com/';return true" ONFOCUS="window.status='http://sp.quicklister.com/';return true" ONMOUSEOUT="window.status=''"><B>Stop living a life of NO</B></A> People may disagree with me about this, but looks like that kind of link would be worthless!!!!!!!!!!!! Other than that your site looks nice.
The links are only bannerbox JS they come as standard with the free biz directory that was used. Any submissions made will be static links and the bannerbox links will be pushed down. It is loading fine here. I would add... adsense, maybe amazon products some kind of way to make a revenue out of it not just the coop.
The first thing I did was remove the PPC supplied by Biz Directory. Does anyone make money from them? I replaced them with AdSense. Shouldn't I have.
Its been a while..I thought they gave you instructions how to take them out in the initial download package. I seem to remember they were just an include and you had to change something to "false" I will try to dig up the original script and see
I doubt G will think that directory is worthy of inclusion. The homepage has 0 content. I count 50 or so characters that aren't hyperlinks. If I were Google I wouldn't even waste the 400 bytes.
I think you are right, I was going to suggestion content. Also, when links are submitted to the categories these act as content.
So I guess what I am seeing here is that the simple look isn't very appealing. So what would be a good source of content that won't look too cluttered then? BTW, I will get rid of the bannerboxes, was going to get around to it yesterday but plan forgot, maybe today
A "bluenoser" is slang for someone from Nova Scotia. Basically it comes from bluenose potatoes that were popular in the 1800's and has stuck. The famous Bluenose schooner was named in this same fasion. It loads quick for me on multiple computers.
It looks appealing but it's not functional if your goal is to get it indexed and offer webmasters links for the sake of link building. If your motives are to build a visitor-useful directory then it's a different story...
I didn't think that propagation would be a problem but I suppose I should of thought about that since the site has only been online for 2 days. So....if you still can't see it through no fault of your own click here IS there any way I can have both? I am planning on making this a long term project so I would like it to be friendly to a wide variety of users and maybe get some repeat "customers". However I would still like to get some search engine traffic coming in. I like the news on kwik goblin but will having unrelated news links just get impressions on the front page since people will go there and then realize that was not what they were looking for? What would good, directory related content be?
Thanks for the suggestion, I have the know-how to put RSS feeds on the site. I even run a news site that I could have an RSS feed from, however how is a news feed relevant to a directory? Unless it is a webmaster RSS feed, or something along those lines. Has anyone heardof such a thing? I have just answered my own questions, I think, Yahoo offers a RSS feed of their directory, should I consider add this to the front page? What would you do?
