i have a 1 GB hosting plan. currently, i only have wordpress installed thrice, and a few extra txt files. all in all, i don't think i have anything more than 100 MB of files. yet, my disk space usage is shown as 636 MB. where could the extra 530 MB be going?? help would be appreciated
Sometimes the quota files do get corrupted, or, they are updated at a scheduled interval. Could also be mail, logs, and small other things that are taking up the space. I would have your host check into the usage for you, so they can tell you exactly where the usage is.
thanks Chris. i figured out what the problem was. my mail client. i had 141,605 emails waiting in my inbox. 600 MB in total
Better clean up your emails. Personally I use Gmail for emails rather than as its more secure and you dont loose any space etc
same case is with me I have wp installed on my hosting web space but quota has been showing more than 368MB.I don't care as I have unlimited space but it needs serious attention.I guess the space is been consumed by logs of applications like hosting control panel stats.
catch-all means, all unrouted emails for your domain will be delivered to catch-all account. For example, if you have catah-all set as info@yourdomain and someone sends email to test@yourdomain then this message will be received in info@yourdomain. May I know which hosting control panel are you using? Kailash
i am using indianets.com what u said makes sense. that might explain why the emails landed up in the mailbox, when i had actually directed them to an email id on my domain that didn't exist. (something like "domain@domain.com" which hasn't been created yet)
