I've been hanging around DP for sometime just checking things out and reading a ton. Wow! There is so much great info here and I have to say that the posts I've read are definately helping me out. From new ideas to confirming old ones to just knowing I'm not alone in my insanity - this community is great and I am happy to be here at DP. I have a love/hate relationship with the NET and site development. I build sites because it is what I know but not necessarily what I like - or - maybe I'd like it more if I could actually make a living online. I left my job 2 years ago as a programmer with a big telco company "can you hear me now?" and decided to see if I could make a go of living off the net. Well, ummm . . . I have had to start looking for another work-a-day type job. Oh well. I did launch two projects while I was goofing-off for the last two years though. The first was a search engine and the other is a series of national/local classified ad sites http://www.hometownadsonline.com - both I wrote from scratch. In any event, I have found that being a programmer is only part of the journey to success on the net. I am beginning to think it is a small part because it seems that marketing is more important that anything. I found DP when I started to tackle the holy grail of a successful website - traffic. You've all helped with subjects like - code optimization - the sandbox - marketing - etc. Thanks and I look forward to contributing my 2 cents! ClassAct
