You can try using Reviews for Hosts offering Dedicated servers. . Also compare their pricing and Managed support well .

Before chosing any Hosts for Dedicated server, you should get it's current true reviews in market . That's all about Web Hosting Reviews .

    Msn/Yim/Aim ?????
Thats not how things work with 'real' big companies.

Go 1and1.com or servermatrix.com, they rock!

I would definately suggest going with Server Packet, I've hosted my bandwidth hogging website on their network for quite sometime and it has not been down.... check out my site at www.quick2load.com

Burstnet is on AIM;) I personally prefer dealing with a small-mid size company who knows their stuff rather than a huge corporation where everything from signup to server suspension is automated.

I just got a dedicated server from surpasshosting.
They arent on Aim or MSN or anything, but their support has been outstanding - and since i'm a n00b, i've needed a LOT of support!

http://systeminplace.net also provides dedicated servers btw, & good support over Msn however they are a reseller so don't go w/ them unless you're comfortable dealing with a reseller.

My thoughts exactly, and neither does it need to, if you need a specialist service, then to all intent and purpose you should actually be a specialist yourself, and so the need for 24 hour on your lap support is void.

Try posting in Forums of hosts that you want to choose. And check how they respond to Pre-Sales Question .

Almost no company uses an instant messager for support for very good reasons.

They don't automatically create tickets and it's extra work to verify that you're who you say you are etc.

If you drop that requirement that really shouldn't be a requirement you'll have many good options.

Do you know how busy the site will be or what port speed you'll need?
