ok i am building this website.
and i know i am going to get 1 million users on it in the first month.. this is not a joke. for the people that really want to know im getting the traffic through paid advertisement over $10k

ok what kind of server do i need in order to cover this traffic?
dedicated? and what do you recommend?

i need a server that wont crash or stop working..

    please and thank you..

go for a real nice dedicated server and optimise the same so that it can handle all the load.
I would suggest freeBSD as OS

If you have a mysql driven website, you might want to look at some type of grid hosting.

There are a number of good dedicated servers. Do you have a location preference? Managed or unmanaged? metered or unmetered? OS? Unfortunately there is no one answer for you question. It depends on your specific needs.

I would like to know how many users you can get at the same time? It is much more important than the total users per month.

Can you tell us a bit more about your website? What's on it? Basic text/images or lots of SQL and videos?

go ahead and chat with a chat representative of a dedicated server provider like theplanet or atjeu, they should help you out.

Unmanaged means you are the person to be in charged of server management, involving to many tasks such as software installing, updating, checking server logs everyday, keeping it secured, backing data up, etc. If you are not familiar with server management, you will need a fully managed server, that the admin will take care all server side issues.
