Welcome Anusha!! Nice to know about one more Indian here!! Guys, how about combining all "Hello from UK" threads
Excuse me, Anusha belongs to the UK and you belong to the States. When a person has left a country for better prospects, he can not belong to the country he/she just abandoned. I'm sorry but with the case of Indians this instillation of false patriotism is becoming widespread. Even when an American kid of Indian origin wins a spell bee contest, our newspapers here immediately begin to boast. This kind of thing should go or will be made to go. Why not take to the streets with an Indian flag amidst the streets of New York, instead of vaunting like this? You people eat American food, get American money but say India is the best country. Then, why did you leave your country? Regards, Dilip Samuel, India.
Dilip chill out, Mav didn't mean to offend anyone with that post. Sheesh. Also, In the UK no offense to anyone (because this is not my opinion) but on the whole they do not consider Indian people that live in England, English. They are still thought of as Indian. (not in all cases though) Maybe they say that India is the best country because that's their feeling/opinion. You can't deny them that. Just because they left India for another country doesn't mean they have to deny their culture, heritage or beliefs. You don't know the circumstances or the ins and outs - Maybe they had no choice but to leave India ect.
Agreed, we don't know the circumstances. But in my opinion I consider neither of them Indian. This trick doesn't work with me. At the most, I can call them people of Indian origin. Circumstances? If your Pop and mom left for the States then you can call it circumstances. No, India doesn't persecutes its own people. Its own people persecute themselves with thoughts such as brighter prospects, dollar dreams and what not. The word circumstances is out of the question. Regards, Dilip Samuel, India.
My mum and dad moved from London over to the Netherlands when I was much younger. Because of my dad's job. That doesn't make me Dutch. That makes me a victim of circumstance. Maybe that is Anusha's situation too. Don't judge until you know the full story. As far as I can see...she wasn't even the one that said she was Indian, She meerly stated she lives in East London. Anyway, as you, yourself, said...This is just your opinion. And that, Sir, you're entitled to. Regards, Carmella.
