So, I realized I forgot to say hello... oops

Hello! I'm Pewwer42, know around the internet as... well Pewwer42

I joined this site by searching Google for "Paid Forum moderators" looking for a job to supplement my part time real life job as a Mad Scientist (yes I'm serious) but found this site to be quite helpful with little things I needed to know as a website owner (if your curious just read my sig, and the first line of my sig is dedicated to my girlfriend, who has no clue its there... right)

Anyway, I think I'll stick around this site, and offer my wisdom from past experience when I can. Also I'll try not to be forgetful about things such as saying hello.

Hope to meet many good people on this site, and to the owners, admins, and mods of Digital point forums, good job, you have a nice site here ^^.

It just snowed on Tuesday, so no it's cold, I was making a joke (and I lived in California for a few years, but New England called me back home)

My expertise is Forum moderation I suppose, and in game gunz moderation, but your not going to get paid for that unless ijji hires you, lol. As to my site, which is a humor article site, only one of them is written by me and it's more of a rant, I'm not the best writer.

Not to purposely perpetuate a tangent on geography but my family is from the east and I have always loved it, hopefully I'll be heading [east] the end of this year...not so much north though. I am actually looking into starting a forum for a [small niche] nothing like dk maybe I could get some advice from you...that is if you can first explain what you mean by "forum moderation I suppose"...:p

By forum moderation I mean someone who read just above every post (the bigger the forum, the less % of posts someone is able to read requiring more mods) assuring they are clean (not full of swears) and not spam. Also if banning is required, a higher level moderator, or administrator sets the ban (on e-mail, Username, hostname, and IP address) I also know how to add boards (at least in SMF and PHPbb, but I learn fast and I'm sure vbulletin is just as easy)

Also a moderator helps two people who start arguing in a thread stop, first with a reminder, then if it continues, locking the thread.

Lastly a moderator is part of the face of the forum, portraying professionalism and friendliness at the same time. Having good spelling and grammar (or at least attempting to, sometimes I need my English major girlfriend to correct me) That means when required to post to set rules, give warnings, or just joining in on the fun as any moderator should if they enjoy the forum they moderate, they may not use 1337 speak nor chat speak. (I don't think anyone should, but I'll have to settle for site staff members)

A moderator is someone a forum member should feel they can approach as a friend, not some "man" (or woman) they need to stick it too. After all if you want people to stay on your forum, they should feel as if they were coming home each time they log on. (why do you think it is so popular to say "we have cookies"?)

    /end sage wise advise essay
