    Hi all.
    I'm new here, and also new to adsense.

    I just made an image hosting site. I don't know if its against the rules to give url here, please let me know.

    Anyway, the problem is, the ads showing are just "image hosting site", "image manipulation software", "asp image upload class", which my visitors are not interested in.

    i mailed uncle g about this, and he told me that my site lacks written content, so ads are based on my title, keywords, etc.

    then i modified my site a little bit, and made it so that people can add tags for each image. currently, there are more than 30 words in each image page, but my ads are still same. when do you think relevant ads will be shown?

    another question is: currently i'm at 0.1%. is it too low?

    thanks.

    1. You are new don't expect much yet. Even if you think your content is up to par.
    2. It's not against the TOS to post URLs.
    3. 30 words could only be about 5 or 6 sentences which is just a small paragraph. Hopefully its not the same thing ever page or else don't expect to see anything good.
    4. .1% CTR, once again your new. Either your users arent used to seeing/clicking ads, or you have bad ad placement. Try making them blend into your content so they are hard to decipher from normal content text.

    That's just my four cents.

    Excellent site. I like the layout and design.

    I suggest you put a medium square on the top images page instead of the banner over top. Do something like this

    <table border=0 cellspacing=0>
    <tr>
    <td>
    ***AS Medium Square Code****
    </td>
    <td>
    ***Top Image List***
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    Use a table with invisible borders to position the AS next to your toplist. It's what I would do,

    thank you. i will try square ads tomorrow.
    do you have any idea why the ads are all about image processing? is there an update time for adsense to show relevant ads?
    (i can not block those image processing ads, because all of the ads are similar.)

    The image processing ads are not unusual. You will not get image hosting ads 100% percent of the time. As long as your content is good all that you should worry about is that the ad has anything to do with images or pictures at all. Like if your page is all about images and you see ads for paintball, then there is a problem, otherwise you're ok.

    One thing to look at is to eliminate anything you can that talks about the things you are trying to get away from.. While it does take some of the text out of your site, it is only text that is generating ads you don't want. So if you have links and such that talk about image processing, or even some text, consider putting some of that verbage in graphics files and such.. it might help the small paragraphs direct google better.

    One thing I have learned is that file names and paths can make a difference especially in areas with less text. Just glancing through your page, I see image.php over and over again. That will have an impact on what ads get shown unless you have enough other stuff on other topics to overcome it.

    I know in some cases, I have re-written file names to get better ads. But that is a personal decision. To me it doesn't matter because people rarely look at the URL anyways, so they would never notice it. It is harder with different topics as well.

    Edit: looking at it some more you page title, keywords and description all take about imaging and photos. In fact you have done a very good job in getting those ads on your site. Everything about your page asks for the ads you are getting. If you really don't want them, then I would change your keywords, titltes and description before doing anything else.

    Double Edit: :) I just checked, your 183 line front page has the word "image" in it 63 times. If you don't want ads that target that keyword, then you need to make it so it doesn't show up so often.

    well, removing the word "image" from keywords and description is a good idea. but i also want to be found when people search for "image hosting" and similar phrases. is it possible to be found with keyword "image", and showing ads not relevant to the word "image"? my visitors are usually bloggers, community members, etc.

    Yeah... because adsense ads are proximity based, so you could ad text, to parts of the page where you are displaying ads to try and influence them more.

    Problem is with an image only site, you will have a hard time optimizing for two conflicting reviews, in this case search engines and adsense. I don't know if alt tags are used by the adsense mediabot, if they are, though, perhaps that could be of some help too.

    Another tip would be to use the Competitive ad filter... go through the sites - but dont click them, find the links and find out what their rating is on Alexa.com and if the ranking is really high like anything over 400,000 - then put it's link in your ad filter. You should also put in junk websites like ebay.com that are pointing towards their ebay auction listing ... which wont get you that much per click... and one more thing you could do to increase profits on your image uploading site would be to use any of these keywords on the following page/link that relates to image hosting/uploading: www theblahbrain com/adsensekeywords.htm - just paste it in your browser, inserting the periods, and you're good to go. It's a good page and it's updated frequently, I also added some tips.

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you, but i dont think i will add any keywords that are not related to my site and/or the image shown.

    After a few optimizations, my ctr is now 0.2%. thanks for all suggestions.

    Anybody knows any good way to promote an image hosting site? I'm currently submitting my sites to 500+ directories. anything else?
