Hello everyone, new girl on the block

    I have just started working from home and have a website and a blog up now. Which is alone a success for me, I learned the HTML, CSS, PHP basics. But I was wondering how you all got yourself going? What did you do to promote your sites? And any tips you would like to share would be great too:p

    I look forward to being a part of these forums and learning from everyone.

    Hi Erin,

    Welcome to DP and great to see you taking action towards your goals!

    There are many different ways to market and promote a website or blog. You really have to look at what your website is offering before deciding on the promotion strategies.

    As for your blog, start by commenting on other people's blog. Gain other bloggers' attention and participate in forums that are related to your niche. I have visited your blog and it seems like DigitalPoint and Sitepoint forums are your best choice :)

    The most important thing is to concentrate on a task before getting onto others. I suggest if you have time to read only one blog per day, follow problogger, Darren:

    I will check out both blogs, thanks. My site is having "techincal difficulties" at the moment and I am having some trouble figuring it out so I have put that on hold because I have been focused on it and nothing else. So I will get that fixed as soon as I can.

    I am wanted to create an e book really but don't really have the experience to do so yet, but that is where I am headed.

    Definately got started by leaving relevant comments on other blogs. Great way to spread your blogs name and get some traffic.
