The best way to be guided is to let us know where you are at in the learning process. What do you already know, and what are your goals? What direction do you want to go in internet marketing. There are numerous choices. So, give us an idea of where you are at, where you want to go, and let's get started guiding you in the right direction...

Is this small business offline, and you are wanting to reach out with and interact with your customers? If so, I'd go with Social marketing, like Twitter or a Facebook fan page for your business. if it is an online business, both social marketing and email would be good. For email, you can create a list by giving some information, useful but incomplete, away, urging them to seek you out for more information.

Social marketing is the way to go! A fan page works great. I've had better luck with that than starting a group on facebook.

    Hi Altonn,
Welcome to the world of online marketing. You've just started so a big possibility is waiting for you in your near future. First find out your interest of working. There are plenty of opportunities in online. you just need to pick one and drive it on your own efforts. You can start your journey with blogging, affiliate marketing, freelancing, Adsense, e-book writing and so on. You can get more info by Googling. So first of all oriented your mind towards a specific direction and then start up.

Have you ever done any internet marketing? What do you already know? Internet marketing is such an insanely huge topic, that your question is hard to answer. I'd suggest getting online & doing a Google search for "Internet Marketing Basics" or "Learn Internet Marketing", etc. If you have specific questions (or more narrow by topic), then start another thread.

I know the most about SEO, so I'm always happy to share. If you're starting with a small budget, start with social bookmarking, articles, forum/blog comments, sponsored blogpost and blogroll links on related websites. Just make sure all your links are do-follow, content is high quality, websites aren't over-spammed with outbound links/adult content, etc.

    Hope this helps!

i can honestly say after spending two years learning by myself ( the hard way ) ... the best thing to do is try to find a coaching program that suits you. This will really speed up your learning and was when i started seeing my first success. After all this is a business and you have to be prepared to learn and get stuck. Dont listen to hyped up affiliate marketers trying to sell you the dream instead of the product ... you must of seen them cars this , "holidays that, earn a thousand a day" its all bull sh**.... thta kind of money and more is possible but you have to have the right mind set... which is ... this is a full time business and has to be treated like one. You will have to invest time and money ( not very much money )... to really learn...

with that said it is do-able by anyone as long a you never give up and keep learning... if you need any advice please pm ( personal message ) me i will give you straight talking advice and direction...

another thing try not to sign up for every free bit of information that is offered because you will end up getting to much information at one time and just get confused and overwhelmed. If you do not have a business model or do not have your own product or website to promote i suggest going down the affiliate marketing route.

But like i say if you have anymore questions please pm me and ask away if i know the answers i will give them to ya if i dont then i wll not pretend i do ...

all the best and remember it is a skill anyone can learn that means you have the cabability to do this.

    I can't agree more.

Anyway at least you took two years. I took 7 years before I finally managed to break even. That was around 2001 where internet marketing coaching programs are almost non-existent.

I suggest start with something free such as effectively commenting on blogs and forums. Don't expect massive results.
You can then try things such as writing ebooks and posting them on document sharing websites.

Good suggestion. As a newbie back in the early 2010, I was able to find an experience marketer (in a IM forum) doing just autoblogging with amazon products and his steady income of USD 800 per month (not bad for a 35 year old dad). I decided to drive about 300km to meet him just to learn his method of doing the right things. He showed me his websites, tricks, tips and amazon accounts with his laptop while we are having a nice chinese dinner. I even seek his permission to be his student but he just laughed and told me "I AM NO GURU!". He explain to me just follow what works.

Right after I got back, we then started to communicate with skype and he helped me with all the bits and pieces. The best thing is, he taught all the necessary tips which are working to make your niche to run in auto mode so that you are able to do it part time.

Again, I dedicated this to newbs who are just starting out or still struggling. Find a mentor (who will help you out NOT the one who will squeezed you out) and follow what works.

"I AM NO GURU!"....lol.... I only follow what works
