Hello Everyone. I have PMed a few people about various opinions I had and discussed a few business ideas, however this is my first official forum post. I have been reading the post here for a little while. I really like this forum, there are so many intellegent and creative people here. One thing I would like to accomplish while here is to network with many different people. I have many websites/businesses that I intend to start.

One type of business in which I have been planning to start very soon is internet promotion, I have a large amount of resources and I think that I could do a very good job for individuals seeking to promote their website/business. The problem is that I need advice and a little guidence. You see I have narrowed down the promotional areas that I would like to go into, I am confident I could do a very satisfying job on each, however I have no idea which would be most profitable in the long run and which would bring me the most repeat business. Ofcourse I understand that the quality of the promotional job that I do would largely determine if someone used my services repeatedly in the future. However I need to know which of these is needed most and what the general pricing for such services is. (Note: I plan to only charge *pay after results* at first until I have proven that everyone can trust pre paying for my services.)
So here are my options that I can focus on primarily: manual article submission(writing the articles negotiable), manual online classified ad submission, manual message board submission, Search engine+directories(this could possibly be a reacurring submission during a weekly or monthly period), manual press release submission. So those are the 5 talents that I feel that I would excel at most, however like I said, I need to know which one would be best to exclusively focus on. Please tell me what prices should be charged for these services and also which is most needed or in the highest demand if you prefer. I plan to get started promoting, and doing pay on results services as soon as I decide which promotional service area to focus on. If everyone could help me decide I would appreciate all of your help a great deal. Thank you in advance for any advice that you can provide:)

    Welcome UntappedPotential,
I would suggest doing a trial run on each.

You also need to be flexible. Some tasks are in demand for a short time then dissappear

    Welcome Untapped,

To be honest all the things you have picked are among the most BORING aspects of getting a website out there. At the same time search the forums here and you'll find ridiculously low prices for the services you are planning on offering.

I can't tell where you are from. I make some money from SEO as a sideline - although in general, I don't particularly enjoy it, when I find a client whose site really does deserve to be found, I enjoy the challenge.

I got started on that route not through the internet by by hearing an ad on the radio which included a website. When I went on-line and tried every possible keyphrase, they were no-where to be found. When I checked links back - they had none.

Long story short, I phoned them and asked what they had paid for the web design. When they told me, I asked if they were happy with the return. Of course, they were not. I told them I could not guarantee top positions in the serps but that I could improve their traffic. In a month I had done that to their satisfaction.

I charged that first client peanuts. Through recommendations from them and from following clients, I upped my price tenfold but by US standards I think I am probably still making peanuts.

You know what? It pays the rent. Don't look for your first clients among the faceless porridge on the internet. Start by building clients within your own community. They will end up being your best sales force, if you can deliver what you promise.

So saying, make me an offer for article submission including some form of reporting and maybe I'll be your first DP client.
