Have something to live for, to take your mind off of it. Gum gum and more gum. Finally WORKOUT do something! I've been smoke free close to a year now! I used to smoke 3-5 packs a day. I can't even say a full daily average as it depended on if I was drinking, or drinking heavily!.

    Follow two simple steps:

    1. Change you avatar. That will solve your problem 50% ;).
    2. Don't move from DP to anywhere else. Stick here. You will forget every thing. Even .. ;)

Hope this will help you. :D :D

Think of something you would like to buy but you think it's a waste of money...
Then stop buying cigarettes and put that money to buy the thing you thought of :p

Don't use any nicotine substitues - waste of money. The only way to quit is through sheer willpower. I quit 18 months ago cold turkey. The first 2 weeks were hell, but now I hardly ever think about smoking. Try to avoid situations that "trigger" your smoking reflex - going to the bar, coffee breaks, after a meal etc.

What worked for me was having some strong motivation. Until the late 1960s I was smoking two packs of Camels a day. I tried sincerely two different times to quit, but fell back into it after some months.

Then I met a delightful young lady who did not smoke. Her wellbeing became important enough to me that the motivation not to overwhelm her with smoke enabled me to quit in 1971. She and I have now been married (and smoke-free) since 1972.

Find some compelling motivation. That's what worked for me.

Tobacco causes cancer - cancer of larynx, pharynx, mouth, lungs
Causes gastric ulcers, renal failure, teeth staining, mouth ulcers and much more..

    Keep remembering this things :p

I also advice you to consult a physician, he will help you to get rid of smoking through drugs for sure. Believe me !

Some tips that I heard from my friends.
    1. Eat sweets or chewing gums instead of smoking.
    2. Do regular workouts.
    3. Determination and willpower.

Hope that this will be helpful to you. =)

I wouldn't smoke on a farm, it might set the hay bails on fire.

I did quit once, for two years, I quit by going for a walk everytime I wanted to smoke, or popping a tae bo video.. it proved to be a great way to both alievate frustration from wanting to smoke, and to dislocate a knee cap ;) .. I smoke again now, but i still walk whenever I am frustrated or just plain pissed off, me and ole Billy Blanks are on the outs though, I like my knees :p ...

My quit appt is this week .. It was Monday, but I thought it was tuesday.. anyway .. resceduling.. yay for that ;) ... either way.. I'll soon be here witchya man :)

Maybe we should start a nice lil "who I didnt kill while quitting smoking blog" hehe ;)

First, do you have a reason to quit smoking?

You mind is the key. If you have strong will, you don't even need gum or patch.

I gave up smoking half years a ago. My roomate is a chain smoker, but that doesn't temp me because i made up my mind.

and who care about those cancer crap...we all know that but no one give a darn...

My mom quit after 20 years of smoking with the patch. Of course, I had to harass her almost daily AND she finally went to the hospital because she had a really bad cough with a spot on her lung. Finally she quit.

I think the first thing you must have is a big desire to quit. If you don't WANT to quit, you'll never be able to.

Ask your wife to "encourage" you every day you don't smoke. Then you don't smoke anymore and you get some lovin!
