Hello all. My name is JP Sauve. I'm one of the founders of MaxBounty.com. My affiliate manager and a good publisher of ours both suggested on the same day that I check out Digital Point, so I'm here doing so. After a few minutes of reading, I must say that I'm impressed with the level of professionalism found on this board and the cooperation among peers. It's a nice change to see a flameless board that actually get activity! I'm posting my first message in this General Marketing forum as opposed to the Introductions thread as I wanted my very first post at Digital Forums to stir a discussion. After all, that's what message boards are all about. My poll is very simple, but the answers can complicated. I hope everyone participates. Who is more evil? 1 - AFFILIATES: They are the main stay of any affiliate program, but as an owner of a network I can attest that not every affiliate is good. In this category are the hard working good folks who luckily make up the bulk of our network... but also those others who try to get away with mischief. (Spammers, adware thieves, fraudulent lead generators, proxy affiliates, PPC SE clickers, stolen credit cards, etc, etc... all fall in this group.) 2 - MERCHANTS: You can't have an affiliate program without a merchant. Luckily this group is made up of mostly legit partners who want to see their publishers succeed. Unfortunately there's always the occasional bad one in the mix. (Bids against you for keywords, reverses good leads, do not pay on time, faulty reporting, enable commission-less 1-800 telephone sales, runs out of funds, in bed with spammers and theftware, poor conversions, etc, etc... all fall in this group.) 3 - NETWORKS: Love or hate them, most of you use at least one network, and the majority of you use many. Thankfully the responsiveness of networks has changed considerably since I first began marketing on the Internet, and developing a strong relationship with your favorite 'good' network is guaranteed to earn you more revenue. While most networks check out fine, some are quite problematic. (Late payments, reversed leads, lack of response to questions, undercounting impressions, partnering with spyware, untracked sales, always siding with the merchant.... the list goes on and that's without even mentioning the fact that most networks started out online as email marketers... all these problems fall under the Network group.) So what's your view. If you had to pick one, who's more evil? Thanks JP Sauve MaxBounty.com
