I've seen Police all over Europe armed with automatic weapons.

In any case it's to make people feel more secure. A bullet is a bullet and a 9mm glock can pump out a lot of lead.

I have been traveling to Europe for over 20 years and it is common to see police patrolling airports, subways and the streets armed with automatic weapons. It has nothing to do with creating a police state, but has everything to do with not being out-gunned by the bad guys.

I think it is a good idea. In today's world, not being prepared to deal with terrorists is shear stupidity.

@iul, do you think Europe is a police state?

I've been seeing guys with machine guns in the subway system for awhile now. If they are there to make us feel more "safe" then they are not doing their job. Seeing a guy with a machine gun in the subway system is a bit unsettling for me, personally.

The dogs I haven't seen before. I like animals.

It's strictly conditioning friend. Right now, you're meant to be intimidated, in the future, you will feel less safe without them (a variant of Stockholm Syndrome).

    Problem => Reaction => Solution.

It's how you build human dependency on societal constructs.

This is just the beginning of things to come. First they install police with machine guns and dogs to make you "feel" more secure, then comes martial law, then we are all fucked! People need to wake up and not give up their liberties for fake security. If someone wanted to cause some serious damage, do you really believe that a couple of cops with machine guns will stop a determined human being? Please! If you want security we need to stop giving people around the world reasons to hate us and target our citizens, and NO, freedom and democrazy is not one of the reason we are hated around the world.

Public displays of men with dogs and machine guns are to intimdate the masses. Security can be provided more discretely--and they know this.

Exactly! They are slowly testing the masses and conditioning them to get used to shit like this. Kind of like gas prices, they raise them to $3/gallon from $1.50/gallon then they drop them .10cents per gallon and tell us that price of gas has come down.

I could not agree with you more.

This pattern has existed since before Christ.
Scare the shit out of the buggers, and then you can control them.
Gasp terrorists! Ok there a few real ones but I am sure we have more to fear from our own goverments.
Then tax them to high heaven, or keep them poor, fuel, remortgages to take away unsecured debt.

Things have not changed a lot since we were tenant farmers, serfs, tilling a rented piece of land from the Lord of the manor.

Everyone asks why would they do such a thing?

Answer is becuase they want to keep us poor.
    Money is power.
    Keep them poor.

Duck, cover and pray that you don't have a trigger happy cop with a high powered machine gun mowing people down. If we are a democracy and free than what are these constant reminders of insecurity like cops with machine guns say about it?

wow you're all right. this kind of nationalist 'patriotism' was what sparked Hitler into power. when you leave the public confused and feeling helpless then have the government be their 'savior', we're in for a ride.

this is all part of a well thought out plan by the people who own you. start buying armor piercing guns and learn to be proficient.

nice, my brother has a glock and carries it around in his vest holster everywhere he goes.

i think everyone should do this, and have a backup knife to gut someone if you run out of ammo :)

Here in Mexico they use nothing but Uzi's and M-16's...

But it's more about being more armed than the Drug Lords than anything else.

I agree, after 9-11 people were asking questions like why weren't there air marshals on some of those planes, maybe they could of prevented them from being hijacked. Now as security measure they put police on subways people are yelling Marshall law and loss of freedom. Some people need wake up to reality.
