Heard someone Bribed the editor and got in

    Let's face it. DMOZ is the one directory that's way more important and authoritative than any other on the planet. I believe it's worth it for $1,000 to be listed on it permanently.

    We all keep hearing that, but I have never seen anyone provide any proof. Until I see some evidence, I will assume it just another urban myth that does the rounds of the webmaster forums.

    I have seen sites get banned permanently for attempting to bribe an editor.

    I'm sure you could bribe your way in, but I'm not so sure that anyone can guarantee a permanent listing. A thousand is too much, even for a top level page. You can hire a link builder for half that and end up with 100's of quality links...if your site is of reasonable quality...

    As far as a link in dmoz, if they were for sale I would pay up to 25 dollars but no more. It's just another directory link.

    Agreed. You would have to be some sort of idiot to think a link at DMOZ was worth paying $1000!
