Well, here it is...I am not reinventing the wheel or anything, in fact a lot of copywriters use this when they want to check the quality of their headlines.

Most of the copywriters realize that the headline is the most important part of their copy as they only have seconds in order to grab the attention of the readers...

How do you make sure that your headline works before you put it in action...?

Well, that is pretty easy...just go to Digg.com, then type the name of the niche and see the articles and the headlines that have the most diggs.

Get the best headlines and work on them so that they fit your copy. You will be amazed to see an increase in sales for sure.

Why does it work? Easy! Because it has already been tested and worked for someone else. There's really no need for you to spend hours and hours thinking and writing headlines, or split testing or anything of that sort, just go to digg and find the headlines that give good results!!!

;) hey, u have just marked the right trick! earlier when i have read your thread i thought, it was mere a waste of time, but incidentally,i have used this trick once and it actually works...but my suggestion would be, do not depend on this idea, as this is not long lasting, what if everyone start using it? more of "DiGG" headlines everywhere? then, who gonna invent new, alluring, starter's(headlines) of an article?

I think it's a good suggestion. You don't necessarily have to copy the headline exactly. It's just a matter of looking at the successful headlines that get a lot of clicks and trying to analyze why they were successful. What about them grabbed peoples' attention? Then write your own headline in your own words using what you learned.

I do know it's a turbulent idea, thanks. This one really works...!

Agreed!!! Do not depend solely on this method. Like the post below my opening post says, there are interesting tricks on the copyblogger blog, in fact, there is a lot of info on the web about that, you just have to find it.

You see, I didn't say that, okay! look at my post -->
See, work on the headlines so that they fit your copy!!!

Well, this is good advice, such as it is-combine the best "buzz" elements of successful headlines when composing your own.

However, I am sure that some people will misconstrue this advice to suggest copying headlines directly. Not only is this likely to backfire, it is poor practice and more fit for a "copyrighting" discussion than "copywriting" one.

Remember, just because it is called copywriting doesn't mean you should copy.

Studying the winners is one thing. Plagarizing them is another.

I'm sure the OP knows the difference.

Isn't the internet already bursting with imitations, rip-offs and recycled content?
If copywriters (and not just writers, well paid COPYwriters) start recycling, god knows what will happen...

20 years hence, my grandchild would read a recycled Enid Blyton that is full of fairies, elves, goblins and writers who wrote original content...

Unless you are "ndcole78" from WF I am willing to bet you just jacked it from there.

Anyway - yes this is a good method.

Yes I've been the headline technique used by Copyblogger and it does work very well. Thanks for sharing with others.
