Hello, I am having an issue with getting my site to display correctly in IE. Please visit <a href=â€http://snapcasa.com†target=â€_blankâ€> My Website</a> in IE and FF. My headings are not padding above and below like FF appears to be. It is especially noticeable in the sample img tag I have on the page with the yellow bg. It’s not a big deal but I have been having this issue with other sites also and I want to know a way around it. Thanks Very Much!
In your css file you specifed the font size to be large for the div it is in. Also, I noticed you have H2, and H3 tags, but no H1 tags. Here is a little tip on how to use header tags.
Cute, but doesn't really explain it all that well. Think of header tags and the sections they are headers FOR (if there's no 'content' as a section under it, it shouldn't be a header) as a giant tree. The H1 is the label for the trunk, the H2 is a label for the branches off the trunk, h3 is the labels for the branches and leaves coming off those branches, and so on and so forth. Because of this though, going DOWN the tree you will likely quite often be going from H4's or H5's down to H1's - which is ok since you are starting a new 'branch'... It also explains why people say you should only have a single H1 per page - it doesn't make a lot of sense to have more than one trunk per tree. (and when it happens, they look funny) This is why a LOT of people's use of headers doesn't make sense - they'll use a H3 after an H2 for an area that is NOT a subsection of the H2... if it's not a subsection of the previous header, it should be the same priority header.
The article was more about validating your site, and making sure that your h tags are in proper order. Not so much on how to use them though I guess I said that. Any how, here is a cool tool I found today to easily help you see how items are coded: http://updates.zdnet.com/tags/IE+HTML+Element+Spy.html You just move the cross hair over the part of a site you are interested in, and it shows the code. I found it by chance earlier today, and have repeatedly found myself using it. It's a great way to check your work online.
