Header tags negatively effecting my search results

    Hello all,
I recently worked on the hierarchy of my home page. I added <h1> and <h2> tags for important info and since then the headers are not getting search queries. For example, if you search "Direct Art Magazine" which is one of my <h2> it is not coming up in google, whereas it use to. Another example is if you seach "Infusion gallery" which is one of my headers, I will be found on page 3 of google's search results, but it is not the header that was found; it was the paragraph below the header that they got the search term.

Is there anything wrong in my code that is to fault? What else could I be doing wrong? http://www.asingularcreation.com

    best regards,
    Joe

I am not sure... you have <h2> inside of an <a> tag, which is not valid, but I don't know if it affects also SEO, anyways valid is <h2><a href="#">Link</a></h2>

First of all your title is too long. Change it just to the main phrase you want to rank for

    Same with your h1:
It's too long winded. You can have a small preview of my new book I'm releasing about SEO (including on-site optimisation):

Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling that <a><h2> was incorrect but I wasn't sure. So if I fix that problem along with shortening the <h1> length, should it take care of my issue?

    thanks so much,
    Joe

Well you have to wait few hours/days so search engines indexes new version but I think rochows idea is very reasonable and it should work.

    Good luck!

Yep, just put in your main phrase you want to rank for, or if there is two of them, put them both. Just remember the more words you have, the less weight each word has; so try and keep it as short as possible)

    Hope I helped

I just made a few changes. I shortened my main header to eight words. I may shorten it more if need be, but I will base that on my results in a couple of weeks. I also removed the links from all of my <h2> tags. I think that was the main issue. They weren't really necessary because there is a "read more here" link at the bottom of each paragraph. So I got rid of them. I think that will make a big difference.

Thanks to all for your help,
    Joe

    Hello all,
It doesn't make any sense to me. I made the fixes and things are still not good. Before I added <h1> and <h2> tags, every search I did for a ad on my home page, such as "Direct Art Magazine" or "Words Without Voices" returned a first page result. Now, I don't even come up for those terms that I made <h2>. The rest of the content that is not in a header tag gets good results. I do not know what the problem is.

    thanks for the help.
