    My takeaways are these:

    1. Trump is more interested in increasing the number of Republicans in the Senate than in the House. Sure, the Dems got control of the purse strings, but Trump can VETO every law they try to pass. The real power is in the Senate which Trump can use to appoint more Supreme Court justices, and the House CANNOT stop him. All the House can do is whine and cry about it. I suspect that Trump expected to lose the House, but decided it was more important to play the Dems for the fools that they are and let them take the House. Basically, the Dems wasted their resources claiming the House rather than ignoring the House and going full bore for the Senate. Looks almost like a classic divide and conquer strategy by Trump.

    2. Now that the Dems have the house, Trump can blame them when the stock markets crash next October (2019). Rightly or wrongly, Trump is credited with the current state of the stock markets. When the markets crash next year, Trump can point fingers at the Dems thereby most likely guaranteeing that he will get a second term. Again, whether purposely or by accident, Trump wins by having the Dems in control of the purse strings when the economy crashes. He can shift to being the Knight in White Armor who cleans up the mess.

    3. I never bothered watching politics before Trump. It was a VERY BORING subject. Nothing but lies, lies, and more lies and never knowing which lie to believe. Trump has turned politics on its head and all of a sudden I and thousands of others are avid watchers of politics. Politics with Trump around are NOT boring and will NEVER be boring. I kind of dread the day when he is gone and politics is again a VERY BORING subject.

I am the opposite, I've given up on politics. I don't watch, read, listen to any media outlet (liberal or conservative). I wonder if the fatigue that I was experiencing (starting back in 2017) is wide spread. I am really tired of all the craziness that's going on. Don't need that stress in my life.

It is very important that Trump has engaged voters who previously found politics boring. However, the most significant change that I have seen (as someone who has followed politics for decades much like a rabid sports fan follows sports teams) is that Trump is the first president in modern times who is not beholden to the big money interests and, therefore, is trying to implement the EXACT policies that he promised on the campaign trail. Never before since I have been following politics beginning in the 1960's, has a president actually kept his promises from the campaign trail. It is refreshing and is what is causing The Swamp (Democrats, bureaucrats, lamestream media, lobbyists, leftists, etc.) to lose its collective mind. They, too, have never seen anything like this and it is freaking them out. Fun to watch!

That is a goal of The Swamp. They are specifically trying to do everything and anything they can to make conservatives and independents get disgusted by their craziness and ignore politics so that they can go back to getting their way without having to win elections or the popular consensus. They know that their Leftist ideas have been proven wrong time after time and that they cannot win in debates or rational discussions (just ask any socialist about Venezuela these days) so they wear genital hats, chase politicians/administration staff out of restaurants, etc., in a desperate attempt to win back the power that they crave.

Bad people succeed when good people stay uninvolved.

The other day I turned on the radio to hear what Glenn is saying now about Trump. I was surprised, because Glenn has gone 180. He's actually supporting and defending Trump now. Not sure what to make of it. Is it for real or is it just for the ratings?

If you recall, this is what Trump said about him back in 2016 (and that's when the personal vendetta started):

"This really dopey guy ... this dopey guy, Glenn Beck, he looks like hell. No, he's like a dope. And I've watched him cry on television all the time. He's doing very badly. His thing is falling apart. His company is falling apart..."

I have not followed Beck since he left Fox News. However, given Trump's popularity among the vast majority of Republicans and conservatives, it seems logical to me that he would have to convert from a Never Trumper to a supporter. Kind of like Lindsay Graham, right now. You have to play to your audience.

Of course, Trump has accomplished so much of the conservative agenda that it is hard, from a pure policy perspective, to be against Trump, too. Cut taxes, 2 Supreme Court justices (imagine if Billary had appointed them!!!), regulations cut, economy roaring, employment at historic levels, including for blacks and Hispanics, NKorea, Canada/Mexico trade agreement, consumer confidence strong, etc., etc. Hard to argue when someone in your own party has racked up such successes. Along these lines, Mittens Romney really hurt himself this week. He will be the darling of the lamestream media, of course, but he has really damaged himself with his own party (other than the RINO's, of course.)

You know, it would be comical if it were not so scary. With the results of socialism on full display right in our backyard (Venezuela), the Left continues to push it as a viable alternative. Of course, it suits them because socialism, communism, etc., gives more power to the elites running the government, but it is frightening how the low information voters and their ilk cannot see the forest for the trees. Yes, Ocasio-Cortez is a cute empty-head that is quite photogenic, but the fact that someone as clueless as her has won a seat in Congress based on failed socialist policies is a symptom of a disease that is infecting some of the populace. We can only hope that it shrivels as fast as the Venezuelan economy has over the past couple of years, but I doubt it.

Can someone advise as to why the Trump administration has not been pressing its appeal of the liberal federal judge who stayed Trump's order to cancel the Kenyan's protection of the DACA illegal immigrants? If Trump was clear to start rounding them up and deporting them, he would have the leverage to get as much money as he wanted for the Wall. The Dem's were just about to cave to Trump on the Wall then they got one of their co-conspirators on the bench to bail them out of a bad situation for them. That Swamp judge handed down his bogus decision that the next president cannot cancel the executive order of a past one over a year ago, I believe.

Should easily be appealed and Trump will win on this one. Executive orders are the clear prerogative of the current President and he has broad latitude in writing and cancelling them. Why is he not going in this direction? I must be missing something.

The energy in the Democrat party is clearly with the wacko leftists and that is going to make for a very interesting primary as the entire clown car of candidates try to outdo each other in inspiring the wacko's. I think that the Establishment/Swamp Democratic leadership is actually horrified by this because they realize that their 2020 candidate is going to make Crazy Bernie look like a centrist and they dare not do what they did to bolster Billary when it was Comrade Bernie who should have been the candidate but for the Super Delegates who conspired/colluded to make Billary the nominee. They cannot do that again which means they are going to put up a totally crazy Leftist as their candidate which will ensure that Trump gets re-elected again. Even Fauxcahontas (aka, Lie-awatha) is not "lefty" enough for these radicals.

Schultz, the Starbucks liberal nutcake, has recognized what is going on and realized that he could never win in the Democratic primaries and that is why he is thinking of running as an independent (if he does, it too will be a big boost for Trump as he draws away some of the inevitable anti-Trump vote.)

BTW, the VA governor who is in hot water over his yearbook photo: my money is on the Left having outed him. Why? Because he made what is a cardinal sin for Leftists: he actually told the truth about one of their sacred issues which is abortion. All Leftists know that you have to lie, obfuscate, deny, etc., or their crazy policies would be recognized for the trash that they are. It is unforgivable that one of their own would break that rule and tell the truth about a horrific abortion law that they were hoping to get passed under the radar screen. He had to go, as a result.

LOL, so, the "gaslighting" has begun in the media over the Russian collusion hoax investigation. Reports are leaking out that Mueller has nothing, the rabid Democrat lawyers on his team have begun to flee the sinking ship, and now the lamestream media is cautioning that the Left "is going to be disappointed" with Mueller, no one ever said that there was Russian collusion, etc., etc. For two years, it has been non-stop drum beating from the lamestream media on Russian collusion and now they are faced with the obvious fact that, 1.) Russia did not affect a single vote, never mind tip the election and 2.) Trump did not collude with them, anyway. Note that what has been long ignored that Trump could have colluded with Russia or China or any country for that matter and it would not be a crime, anyway. But I digress...

Bottomline: this has been a two-year attempt by the Kenyan and the Swamp to cover up and distract from the actual crimes that they committed leading up to the 2016 election when they abused the FISA courts, corrupted the DOJ (just like they did with the IRS) and more to try to help Billary win the election. Of course, now they are counting on the short attention spans of the low information voters, the spinelessness of the RINO's, and the collusion of the lamestream media to have this all quietly go away. I hope that the new Attorney General gets serious about investigating and rooting out this corruption and perp-walking as many of the major players, as possible. And, yes, that includes the Kenyan and Billary.

For the low information voters and others whose only source of "news" is the lamestream/fake news media and who are today scratching their heads as to how Trump could have been completely vindicated by a Special Prosecutor who hired a team of angry Democrats hell bent on finding collusion or obstruction, it is time to understand what has been going on for two years. Actually, it started well before Trump was elected when the Kenyan was able to corrupt the DOJ and FBI (much like he had done earlier with the IRS) and turn them into a political weapon in which they fraudulently got FISA warrants and took other illegal steps to spy on the Trump campaign to help their candidate, Crooked Hillary. They did so quite boldly and often crudely because they assumed that Hillary would win and all of their nefarious activities would be quietly covered up by her.

When Trump surprised all by winning the election, they knew that their illegal actions (going all the way up to the Kenyan) would not be covered up and they could be in deep trouble. Hence, they came up with the completely fake story that Trump had colluded with Russians as way to distract from their wrongdoings and keep Trump and his team busy with this nonsense instead of digging into the real election crimes perpetrated by the Swamp on behalf of the Clinton Crime family. That is why the Special Prosecutor could find nothing, despite his nasty tactics: there was nothing there to find because it was a complete fairy tale to try to distract from the real crimes that were committed by the Kenyan and his Swamplings.

My hope is that the Attorney General and his Inspector General will now focus on the real 2016 campaign crimes and criminals.

Things are looking great for the libs.

Iowa caucus was a complete failure.

    Trump was acquitted.

Trump gave an amazing state of the union address yesterday. During that speech the libs acted like complete and utter children. Pelosi ripping the speech. Rolling their eyes, sitting down, angry, not clapping, even when folks were awarded and recognized for some great things.

Trump is going to destroy them in the election - I can't wait for the excuses and lies this time.

The great thing about the Leftist Swamp (Democrats, Bureaucrats, Media, etc.) is that they actually believe their blather about Russian collusion and so much more. That means that they can never reflect honestly on why they have lost so many important elections and votes and try to take steps to fix their real problems. They just keep yelling and throwing tantrums and expect things to change for them.

Better than being outright traitors... what with an acquittal without allowing evidence or testimony, pre-determined on party loyalty lines instead of facts. It was a rubber stamp that was more akin to what the Reichstag did in 1933; by basically saying "Yeah, he did it" -- and that's the kicker -- but "because he's our president it's ok". The antithesis of the principles on which this nation was founded and part of the continued road towards fascism.

No witnesses, no testimony, no facts, and a vote based entirely on party loyalty. If that's not criminal, it should be.

Kudos to Magic Pants Romney though for taking a stand for what's right, even if he's now a pariah in the Republican party for doing so.

Seriously, what morons thought that phone crapplets were the way to handle passing secure data that needs to avoid tampering like voting? Someone should be hung over that one.

Yup, and absolutely amazing collection of lies sandwiched between half-truths delivered in his typical ignorant, illiterate, meandering "style" with less coherency of thought than most pre-schoolers. How can people listen to that man speak without feeling like their brains are oozing out their ears. He's the poster child for the retort in Billy Madison:

A fact check makes what little coherent claims he made be as big a shambles as Iowa's caucus'

    https://www.factcheck.org/2020/02/factchecking-the-state-of-the-union-3/

Which is to be expected with a president utterly unworthy of respect or loyalty, pandering to the worst aspects of our society and encouraging sociopathic behaviors like the demagogue he quite clearly is.

Seriously, how can people listen to anything Trump says, and not immediately think "what a moron!"?

As the saying goes, there are lies, there are damn lies, and then there are statistics. Depending on the experts, pollsters, analysts, and other sources of information and what horses they are backing, you can pretty much prove or disprove any assertion that any politician makes. Meaningless to do so, in fact.

Here is what I see on the ground in the U.S. as a longtime head of sales/marketing for technology companies offering solutions to businesses and government. The Trump economy is as good or possibly better than the last greatest economy I have ever experienced here which was the Reagan economy of the 1980's. Companies are confident, hiring, investing, and most importantly making profits. The optimism is such a sea change in mentality among the business community after the deep doom and gloom that the Kenyan engendered for eight years. There are clearly more jobs than workers out there even if just based on how many ads there for recruiters to join staffing companies. They cannot keep up with demand. The stock market continues to hit record numbers, interest rates are low because of no inflation, and these are not statistics, but hard numbers. Would absolutely love five more years of this roaring economy like we got under Reagan.

On another note, do not confuse an Impeachment with a trial. A trial is a process that is headed by the judicial branch of government and not the legislative or executive branches. An Impeachment, as written in the U.S. Constitution, is a political process. Now, the Democrats know all of this but they rely on low information voters and their idiot leftwing, nutcase base, to go along with their claims that the Impeachment process requires more witnesses, etc., because it is, in fact, a trial. This was basically more political mischief by the Democrats who knew all along that they could not win the political Impeachment process but needed to keep their low information base as fired up as possible in the face of certain political defeat in the Senate. So they, along with their co-conspirators in the lamestream media, have convinced the ill-informed crowd that it was supposed to be a "fair trial." Probably will do some solid fundraising from these same dupes, as well.

Hence why everything Trump said amounts to "glittering generalities" -- but given that 99.99% of what he's said publicly before and whilst being president seems to be a lie, he's more full of manure than any other politician until you get into the die-hard fascist regimes of Russia, Germany, China, North Korea, Cambodia, Uganda, etc, etc. Hence his blatant demagoguery and how party loyalty is now placed ahead of nation.

You mean the economic policies that gave a fake hope and illusion of prosperity, whist setting the table for the rich to gut the economy in order to line their own pockets in a sociopathic "Me, me, f*** everyone else" attitude that led to the economic downturn of 1986 onwards?

You mean hiring at starvation wages where many "middle class" families now have both adults putting in 80+ hours at two jobs and STILL need assistance to put food on the table? It's like a return to the era of late 1800's robber barons. A few -- like ourselves in a professional trade -- prosper but 80%+ of the population is being told to suck it!

Thanks for outing yourself as a "Birther" -- hardly a shock to see such casual racism and deluded BS out of a Trump fan.

Oh yes, because underpaid temp work where turnover is about a week counts as real "jobs".

The stock market is a BAD gauge of anything except how the rich are doing, no matter what the voodoo economics "trickle down your leg" BS claims. If anything the economy is doing "so well" we're set up for a replay of 1929.

It's like the "record profit" BS, which is a EXTREMELY BAD indicator of a company's finances; remember Sears, ToysWereUs, and K-Mart were showing record profits right up until a year before they shuttered their doors... and they did so by throwing the company's future under the bus by underpaying employees, failing to reinvest in infrastructure, and otherwise cutting every corner that actually keeps a company afloat. Record profits are often a giant finger-pointing indicator of mismanagement. If you've got millions or even billions in debt, you shouldn't be reporting a "record profit". If you can't afford to keep inventory on shelves, you shouldn't be reporting record profits.

But no, we have "Vulture Capitalists" who have figured out how to buy their way into control of companies, put their boys in place, intentionally leech every penny out of its worth, give their boys huge exit bonuses, and leave the battered broken bleeding corpse in bankruptcy.

This economy has been good for the rich and upper class, and has told the middle class and poor to go f*** themselves. If you think that's actually good for the nation, you've not been paying attention the past century and a half.

He was impeached -- by the house. He is likely to be acquitted in the TRIAL in the Senate... and if you knew anything about it you'd know that the senate goings on is a TRIAL presided over by Chief Justice John Roberts.

A fair trial would allow witnesses. A fair trial would present evidence... and the Republicans universally voted to suppress both in the TRIAL!

Once it's in the Senate, it's a TRIAL! to see if the impeachment warrants removal from office. Learn what's going on before you flap your yap.

But as usual, we have conservative know-nothings flapping their yap about a constitution they clearly either didn't read or failed to comprehend. There's a reason those who wave the flag highest, recite the socialist ritualistic indoctrinational pledge loudest, stand tallest for the tone-deaf anthem, want to enshrine the 2nd amendment as if it were a commandment, and chant "America" at the top of their lungs whilst thumping their ignorant tome of halfwit fairy tales about a "magical man in the sky" seem to always be the first in line to wipe their arse with the constitution, blow their nose with the other 9 amendments in the bill of rights, and light afire every principle of decency and morality on which this nation was founded.

Now there is a statistic based on science. Only 99.99%? You need to check back on your Leftist talking points.

My oh my...robber barons, no less! Even more scientific statistics, I see, at 80%+ of the population suffering. But your gloom and doom hyperbole rings as hollow as other leftist claims of despair, right now. If things are so bad for the vast majority, as you claim above, how does that square with the latest Gallup poll, keeping in mind that Gallup leans to the left and is a darling of liberals:

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/284285/new-high-americans-satisfied-personal-life.aspx

90% of Americans in January were "satisfied with personal life" reads the headline.

I would happily stop calling the worst president in my lifetime a Kenyan if anyone could give me a cogent explanation of why he spent $4,000,000+ defending a suit in California by a voter claiming that he was not a citizen and therefore ineligible to run for President. Why spend that much money fighting such "nonsense" when all he had to do was pay $25 (or some nominal fee) to have Hawaii send the court an official birth certificate? Why would he waste years and millions of dollars fighting multiple court cases to not have to produce his birth certificate when he simply could have and ended all speculation??? Then, once the court cases were over but the speculation continued, why did he finally produce a faxed copy of his "birth certificate" to reporters? Why not an original? And why not produce that a couple years earlier and save himself millions of dollars in legal fees. Of course, if you submit a forgery to the court under oath, you could be criminally liable. Giving a faked fax to a reporter is not a legal issue.

Let me repeat: if anyone can give me a satisfactory answer to these concerns, I will be happy to change my position. it just never made sense to me.

And then perhaps you could explain why my thinking above makes me a racist, though I realize that name-calling starts when the argument is lost.

Ah, but I have been paying attention. By all honest measures of success, capitalism has raised the quality of life in just about every area for Americans over the past 150 years.

So, since you are up on the Constitution and its Impeachment clause, you must be at least slightly aware that the process for Impeachment is left entirely up to the House (which they totally corrupted in their underground bunkers) and the trial process is left entirely up to the Senate. It is NOT a judicial trial with rules of evidence, rules of procedure, etc. The Founders left it purposely vague so that each body of Congress could do what they wanted to do in this political process. The House could have read the entrails of goats as their entire investigation if they wanted to (might have worked better for them) and the Senate can likewise determine whatever process they want to review the House's evidence. The Founding Fathers were most afraid that the House would do exactly what Pelosi did: impeach a sitting president on a purely partisan basis and that is why just about the only rule they forced on the Senate was that a conviction required a 2/3 majority vote in an attempt to stop the type of pure power-grabbing spectacle that the Democrats just put on.

The funny thing is that you better save some outrage for what is to come in the months ahead. I suspect that there will be some real arrests, indictments, and actual trials as the Durham investigation continues and comes to a head. For sure, the Obama administration illegally spied on Trump's campaign; that has been confirmed by the FISA courts. The question is how high up the ranks Durham can get in his investigation.
