Well, for my birthday we bought a nice 50" HDTV and now have gotten the HD box and I have to say it is amazing. The best comparison I can come up with is when I graduated from dial-up to high speed. If you get one I recommend getting a HD DVD player, or at least an upscaling DVD player (that's what we got, we bought a Yamaha for $200.00 CAD), and watching the movie Cars and/or Ice Age 2.

HDTV is definitely amazing!! We don't watch enough TV (maybe 5 hours a week) to justify spending that much on a TV.

But I really enjoy watching sports in HD at my friends' houses.

I like going from the HDTV broadcast, to the digital broadcast on my cable box, just to see the difference. It is amazing to see what you miss with the old digital broadcasts.

Glad you went for the box. It's amazing how many people don't know you need the high def signal to actually see your programs in HD. Good for you! And happy belated whenever it was :)

I found it mind boggling as well that people did not know that. Saw a thing on the news near Cmas where it said as many as 50% of those with HDTV's didn't know that!!

how do we function as a society???

Thanks, It was Nov. 1st. What even less people know is that you need HDMI cables to get the best picture. The component cables that come with the box just don't cut it and DVI cables don't carry sound.

I'll think I'll pass on the HDTV........I can get a kick ass laptop for the same price, and it is portable with a larger number of capabilities. I personally feel that the Internet and computers have made tvs obsolete, at least in my own opinion. I'll just stick to my 13 inch television.
