I'm having Saving Bank Account in HDFC Bank and ING Bank in which i've booked fixed deposits of 25k and 100k respectively. Now i want to avail instant credit card so provided my lead to HDFC Bank. Their Representative contacted me today on phone asking for document collection but before providing documents to him, i want to clear few doubts regarding HDFC instant credit card :
    (1) What are the annual charges and joining fees for HDFC Instant credit card as others ( ICICI & KOTAK ) are not charging anything for their instant credit card ?
    (2) Can i purchase products on EMI Scheme from website like Ebay , Flipkart etc. ?
    (3) As my Fixed Deposit Amount is 25k in HDFC, Which card they are going to provide me..GOLD, silver or platnium..which one is best ?

    1) The fees will vary from card to card and generally the fees will be waived after one year of use
    2) Yes, you can
    3) I am not sure about this.

You mean to say that they will charge me annual fees for it... so now my main concern is should i close my HDFC SB account and Fixed deposit and apply for ICICI instant credit card as they are having very open guidelines regarding that ( A seperate instant credit card page on their website and No annual and joining fees ) ??

First of all they charge yearly fees for debit card ,no fees for credit card. What type of card you get depends because it is decided on management .You can have emi based options on the card.

But if you have HDFC bank account you can create netsafe card and use at paypal and many online merchants.

I have used ICICI instant credit card and they charge Rs.100 for cash deposit to CC every time plus a high interest fee and lots of hidden fees. ( a few hundreds here and there surely adds up) You get 80% of your fixed deposit available for use on your CC.

However, now I have come to know that my ICICI VISA International debit card works like a credit card and can be used in all merchants internationally online as well as used for paypal/ payza deposits so now I have stopped my CC and use only my debit card. I think no annual fees but really high interest fees every month even if you miss the pay dates by a day or two.

So my advice is stay with HDFC if you want a CC and if you are going for a 25k fixed deposit CC, then they will give you the silver CC which does not make any difference though. You can definitely avail EMI services with your CC.
