This is for people who got a lot of HD movies on their PC :)

With DVD limit of 4,36 GB, we cannot store a bigger file on it + the file limit for ISO filesystem is 4 GB.

So how do you store your movies? External HDD is the only option I guess? The BD discs are way expensive so as the recorders.

The best option is to store in external HDD but with very big capacity, for example 1 terabyte :D.

I downloaded a heap of movies at 700mb~ish and my 500gb external hdd filled up really quickly.

I've now decided as we enter this new age of storage becoming cheaper by the minute it's not worth burning dvd's and compressing them to lose quality. I now burn them and leave them full, usually between 6-8gb per dvd. I take out all the trailers but leave in the bonus features and all the audio options etc. What's the point of compressing something? apart from to store it on something smaller? It only loses quality!

Go and buy yourself a server like box taht you can fill up with internal hdd's. I'm currently saving for one that will hold 10 1x tb drives because I love my content, all of it. Currently I have two 1tb's almost full and a 500gb chocho block. Western Digital are pretty good.

Also the best way to store your movie rips is in files 0-9 and A-Z. Once your collection builds you don't want to be asking yourself where you put that sc-fi-romantic-comedy-doco-thriller. Just use A-Z and then VLC player to play them!

I have an internal 300gb hdd that I store all of my movies on, but it's almost full. I would LOVE a TB one though. They're getting so cheap, it's great.

Hi. Dual layer DVDs can hold up to 8.5 GB and they are not very expensive anymore. But I still think that a large(1TB+) hard drive would be the best way to go.

What about if HDD fails? I had my 120 GB crashed with that bloody clicking sound last August. So now I dont even believe in HDD :D Oh, well, there are no alternatives anyways...by the way, anyone noticed that WD disks are a bit more expensive than Seagate, the external once? Is that because they are better or smth? Ive heard an ideal solid HDD would cost a lot of money, thats why nowadays they produce cheap hdd's.
