I was just checking through my sites when I found this ad on one of my proxy websites. Questions 1. Is Google paying itself to run these ads?? (accounting pros please answer) 2. Should I add Google to my Google competitive ad filter??? (This is just adding to my insanity) and most importantly 3. Am I Getting Paid If Someone Clicks The Google Ads???
I read an interview on the subject (I'll see if I can find it) where Google said when it comes to them advertising via AdWords they play by the same rules as everyone else. I'd say considering they are the ones that designed the rules though they are playing at an advantage. edit; here's the link I mentioned http://adwords.blogspot.com/2006/12/google-advertising-on-adwords.html
Take a look at the following blog post from the official Inside AdWords blog. Google advertising on AdWords? Hope it helps
I suppose there really is just one way to find out for sure... Hypothetically speaking (as this is very much against AdSense TOS) one could make private arrangements with a fellow dp'er - in order to purposefully click on those specific ads on a page that almost never receive any clicks. My bet would be that you will get paid - albeit the very lowest possible amount. And again: This is still very much against AdSense TOS and should not be done! /miko67 [EDIT] Matt-Baker, that was a great link ... I also tried listening to the 12 Days of AdWords Christmas [/EDIT]
Sometimes Google Displays it's own ads in AdSense . 1. i dont think so that they will pay itself , may be its their ad compain . 2. No need to add it as competitor . 3. yes, definately you will get paid .
Wow Thank you everyone for the responses so far. Keep them coming...off to read some blog posts Thank you again
PR hell would break out if google did not pay publishers if their ads get clicked on. So, yes of course they pay - even for their own ads.
The only ads google does not pay for are the public service ads. Yes they pay you. Don't put Google on the competitive filter. Google performs pretty well for me. Google owns the ad network so obviously the money goes into the same pocket so they aren't really paying themselves but again you do get a percentage of the click. Sometimes it is upto $1.17(highest google click so far)
I think we might be missing the bigger picture here - Google is advertising the toolbar. I set up a new system over the holidays and saw what seemed to be a dhtml window with a suggestion to download the google toolbar upon loading google.com for the first time... Windows Live backlash?
Was it a Dell? I believe they reached an agreement to distribute new Dells with the Google Toolbar Gotta go crash but you should find it in a tech blog
It was a smart move for Google that is for sure. And it was also Google desktop. I own all dells and have no problem with that as I can easily disable it if I wish(never do) - Ohh I am off-topic
