Hello, being all webmasters here im sure you guys agree. Having your prized money making website offline is VERY frustrating especially when the host is either ignoring you or offline. What do you do during these times? This is the first time my host has ignored me like this in 4 months and its very frustrating losing tons of money and not having the ability to get my server back online myself. Its a VPS and i need to get it back online before my stress level goes over the roof. Assistance would be much appreciated.
This is the only host that has been reliable for many months not sure what the sudden issue is but over 6 hours of down time.. meaning ive lost a nice $150. *sigh* He also refused to give me hyperVM access so i cant even restart the server or anything myself.
Its happened to me once or twice too. I once had to wait 10 hours for the server to be started and lost like $40. But you know the people can't always be available. Specially if your renting from a reseller who just owns a rack. He might be out partying or something, you know they gotta live too.
Dreamhost has been extremely kind to me over the past year. I've just had a single bad day when the sites were down. I remember I was tweaking around with the sites and then suddenly the whole thing goes down! I was so frustrated, I kept on beating the monitor. Luckily, Lenovo's done an excellent job keeping the hinges on the Y series strong
Hey joe. Did you try contacting them through their number on WhoIS? When the host becomes available make a backup and move fast. - Prilep
I recommend Dreamhost or Hostgator. Both of them are really good. Dreamhost is really good with customer support. In the early days, I ran a proxy on their server and crashed the entire system. They were kind enough to reinstate me when I explained that I had no clue about as to what I was doing
Hostgator is a great host, but why go with them when he doesn't need all that space and bandwidth? - Prilep
I didnt think of checking the phone number through whois.. But in any case i think the guy is located near india or somewhere around there. so it would cost like $10/minute. My server seems to be back online now but host is refusing to reply to me which is annoying considering i have 4 servers with him. Not an easy move if i ever wanted to. But yeah i dont have small sites.. shared hosting isnt for me.
It never happens to me, as I have a good host. I've been with them since November 2006 and have a semi dedicated server there.
Are you willing to pay more for a dedicated server located in the US fully managed with cPanel? WTF? - Prilep
