Hi, I have a WVGA wallpapers website, I find wallpapers all over the web and crop them to WVGA and post on my website. I think it is illegal, but is it? and I want to make an app in future, what percussion should take to make it legal?
Yes, it is illegal to do what you are doing by cropping and posting wallpapers that belong to others. You can make an app to do that and host it but you'll need to take down all wallpapers that the copyright owners demand. Law depends upon your country and in the US there are specific requirements you need to follow if you want to be immune. Look up DMCA in a search engine and user generated content and you'll have your answers.
Well this is what I want to implement. I am making wallpapers myself, but I cannot produce a lot of them, so it is not so many of them. Also I was thinking of make that authors of wallpapers can submit their wallpapers and get paid for doing so. Maybe percentage, or fixed money I don't know yet. Of course they have to agree to the fact that they give me right to spread them. I also want a button to remove a wallpaper if author wants so... I think this will help me, but they are time consuming solutions and I use a ready script, and want to get some more money to get a website with all of that and an app... Thanks for reply
