Having trouble verifying my site

Discussion in 'Digital Point Ads' started by homemadelife, Jan 23, 2011.

I am probably missing something really simple here..

I have followed the Add site page for adding my site forum.homemadelife.com and added what I believe to be the code in a widget box - but am unable to get verification.

    Am I being really dumb?

What's the exact URL it shows that it should be on when you are on page that shows on the verification page?

No, down at the bottom, it should say "Upload the file so it is located at: xxxxxxxxx"...

    What is the xxxxxx?

    thanks

It should have the instructions for the file down there too (what to put in it).

The line right above where it says, "Upload the file so it is located at"...

Looking over these threads it seems many have this problem! I have done it all - added the file to my website and when I click on the highlighted link (lindercroft.com) it shows now instead of giving an error. However, when I click on save it comes up with this:

    Sorry, but there were errors...
We were unable to verify the ownership of this domain. Make sure you have the file uploaded to the right place and named properly.

    Please advice. This is frustrating!

It won't let me put it in here. But here it is with spaces http :// lindercroft.com - or did you mean with all the letters and numbers behind it. It shows when I click on it in there, it just won't let me save.

Unless you want the letters and numbers, I gave it to you. Without being allowed to post links it makes it a bit hard to give you what you ask for. This is what it says should be done and i have done it.

"To verify you are the owner of lindercroft.com, you will need the ability to edit the DNS records for the lindercroft.com domain or have the ability to upload a file to the site. If you need assistance with this, please contact your hosting provider.

Create a file named 680e49c709c33402305b66620e48f793.html with the contents:

    digitalpoint-ad-verify:680e49c709c33402305b66620e48f793

Upload the file so it is located at: http:// www. lindercroft.com/680e49c709c33402305b66620e48f793.html"

When I click on "http:// www. lindercroft.com/680e49c709c33402305b66620e48f793.html" it comes up in a separate window with the information rather than an error. But when I click save it gives me an error message that I first posted about stating it can't verify.

It's not a text file... if you look at the source, something added HTML tags to it.

It did it in the add site thing. If it will let me I will show a picture. For my url at the top of the page I put in simply lindercroft.com

The Upload file works fine in there, but not once I click save. I would sure like to know what I am doing wrong. When you put in the browser the url highlighted it comes up with the text file just fine... but not once I try to save.

Look at the file source... whatever you used to save it, added all sorts of extra stuff that's confusing it.

Yeah, it should be just plain text, but at the very least, it needs to contain the string given somewhere on the page... the one you have there has HTML tags breaking up the string it's looking for.
