I have a domain I purchased " xfoyac.info " That has a lot of search results cached in google. The site is mostly pages like: what-is-quark-express.xfoyac.info, 1999-dodge-ram-1500-4x4.xfoyac.info, etc. (looks like it was an old spam site) I have an apache server and I'm running a reseller hostin plan. I've tried to use the .htaccess file to do the redirects from the examples I've found, but when I go to any of the pages it doesn't even show my error pages. I've tried using both regular error pages and custom. For some reason nothing comes up as any error pages. What would be the simplest way to redirect the whole site to dodgeownersgroup.com?
Your 301 redirects work from xfoyac.info and from www .xfoyac.info to dodgeownersgroup.com. I think that your problem is more a DNS problem with the other subdomains than a 301 problem, as the subdomains are unreachable. Maybe a DNS expert could confirm. Jean-Luc
so the subdomains are unaffected by the 301? Thanks for figgering that out for me. Does anyone know the best and simplest way to acomplish the redirect on the sub domains?
For the other newbs out there like me. Beware...... I came up with this great idea to take a spammed domain with lots of links in google that went nowhere. Then redirect them to a new site I'm about to put up that will have actual content. Boy, now I find out that I could have made a critical error. After countless hours researching how to do the redirect of the subdomains I got an apiphany. What if this is a banned site? This could have killed my new valid site I'm putting up. So to the newbs like myself. Check everything out before you proceed with anything.
