Having problems with my sidebar in IE

Hello. I'm baffled by something my sidebar is doing. In FF it looks fine and I have no problems with it, but then when i render in IE, the sidebar loads, but then drops down a few pixels, leaving a white gap between the top nav menu and the sidebar, which I don't want. I've never come across this before and would appreciate it if somebody could take a quick a look and perhaps give me a few suggestions as to how I can resolve this problem.

Also, the link in the middle of the sidebar is looking a bit strange in that it seems to change appearance when scrolling. this also has me confused.

    The URL is: http://worldofangel.com/

Thank you in advance to any who can help.

One thing I've noiticed is that this only occurs in IE6, not IE7. Is there a way to work around this?

    Thanks once again.
