I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get traffic to some of my sites. I have one site that has some fair traffic, about 2/3 of it coming from its forums. I have three other sites that I can hardly get any traffic to. Two are forums, in pretty good niches, and one is an content site with technology/web design articles. I've written two articles on php that have been submitted to multiple article database sites (ezinearticles.com and the like, probably 10 sites). I get virtually no traffic to all of these sites, probably 5 uniques at most per day on the two forum sites, and probably 5-15 uniques per day on the article site. The one site with fair traffic is getting about 250 uniques per day, but this is basically the same visitors everyday. Should I list out the sites here? My question is basically what are my options for getting traffic to these sites? I've read all the basic tips (unique content, more content, backlinks, etc) but none of these seem to help very much at all. I just feel like i'm going in the wrong direction with all of it. My goal is monetizing with ads, and i've got the four sites monetized, but I'm not getting very much money, and I know its due to traffic.
you have to provide UNIQUE AND USEFUL stuff now in order to attract members into first place. It's impossible for a website to take off if you provide neither of them and your content is simply what you can get everywhere else. Uniqueness and appeal are two aspects you want to play on in order to get masses to come. I say this because one of my blog is currently getting a stream of traffic for two articles for more than 3-4 months because they were both unique, interesting and somehow fun, appealing. Rest of my blog is pretty desert, I get some people to look at my other pages after looking for those 2 uniques pages but it's not a complete convert. I guess I could work to convert visitors checking those two pages to become interested in my stuff and the rest of the website but I do not have the time to do that now and I'd rather like people who are really interested in my stuff to dig in some more.
what steps should I take towards driving more content other than Unique content. Forums are unique content. What's the easiest way to go about getting new members to my forums? On my article site, I wrote two articles, and they bring all of the tiny traffic that I get. But the time it took me to write the articles doesn't seem to be worth the results. Any more tips?
The time you spend on articles isn't going to be worth the results until you've built up a significant amount of that unique content. 2 articles isn't going to go very far. You need to go for quality first, followed by quantity... but quantity is still vital. Jenn
One word SEO SEO can help your sites a lot, you need to get them up in the SERP's for their particular keywords, try getting them on the first page on the popular search engines and then you will start getting uniques, also if you have the money you can try having adwords. Do one thing, on your site having the highest traffic, you can post an admin post telling your visitors to kindly visit and help develop the other sites too, this works a lot, members mostly are helpful towards the adminstrator, this tact will work well, also do some kind of referral contest as to whoever gets the most people for you will get a mod spot or a little cash prize, that works too. Or if you want to be genuine and be up to the right spot, then I must tell you to Improve the quality of the content, put them in your signature over here, and make threads on different forums for advertising them IT
Yes, for your site, http://www.studiothreehundred.com/ , you need to focus on content before anything else. Since it's a blog, you have to update it frequently. When I looked at your recent posts, I noticed that although you added two on 6/9, you had not updated since 5/18. If you can't commit to updating your blog 2-3 times per week (at a bare minimum), then don't expect anyone to visit. Also, consider toning down your ads at first. You don't want to scare off potential visitors with a site that might look a little like a MFA. If you establish a stable reader base, you can reintegrate more ads if you wish.
I think the main thing I'm having a problem with is basic SEO. I got a little advice from another forum about this, I was linking to my sites without using appropriate anchor tags
Write an unique original article then try submitting to digg. Since it's web-design related you should get traffic.
