So not real sure were to post this, but general chat seemed like the best place.

Im trying to install XP. I put in my CD, and went threw the little setup, and then it restarts me, and when my computer comes back up, it goes to an XP install thing. It asks me were I would like to place XP, and I selected in my D: drive, and it checked my hard drives, and restarted my computer. Then, it gave me 2 options, to go to the XP setup, or to go to my old OS. I clicked the setup, but it just brought me back to the same thing I did a second before....so what do I do?

Format your drive and then install.

Replace the CD if its Damaged !!
    or do one thing
Put CD in tray , restart PC , it will ask for "Press any key to boot from CD " then press any key and follow the simple instructions

Have you try to format the D: drive first?

You need to set it in your PC Bios. Set the 1st boot as CD-Rom/Optical drive. You can enter it by either pressing F2 or Delete button (Depend on your PC manufacturer).

what operating system u have in C drive , if XP is already installed in C drive and u are tring to install it in D also and the same version as in C drive then u cant install, even if u install the both operating system will point to the same C drive operating system and if u install the new XP on older one then it will make your sys speed like hell, too slow. maybe these points can help you.

It appears that you already have a Windows XP installation in your hard drive. You need to format the partition were XP is actually installed or you can install a second copy of XP (not recommended).

You booted from CD twice and installed windows XP twice IMO. Try formatting the HDD and start a fresh installation.
