Having Problems Getting Conversions - even with targeted traffic

I have a client where we are having a hard time getting conversions. Her bounce rate is pretty low (around 30%) and she is getting around seven pages viewed per visit and three to four minutes viewed per visit as well (and like any site - we get some junk traffic that would lower her pages viewed as well as raising her bounce rate). So it looks like ppl are viewing her site with some or great interest, but we aren't getting conversions (maybe one or two per month). Our traffic is about 1,500 UV per month - not major compared to a lot of sites, but this is mostly targeted traffic.

I have other clients where I pretty much promote with the same techniques and I get good conversions. However, with her site - it's totally the opposite. I'm thinking that with 1,500 people per month - in which I know is pretty much targeted (since I promote to targeted audiences) - you would think that we would have more conversions.

My client did tell me that her products are priced quite high - I might be thinking that would be one reason that there is a lack of conversions. However, let's say that you do have 1,500 people that are interested (targeted) - I'm thinking that she would be getting much more than two conversions per month. Am I missing something here???

Side note: If you have been through this situation - I would like to hear what you did to correct this. I've posted questions in other forums and I get noobies that answer my question in order to spam their sig links. I ask that you don't do that - I would love to hear from the experts of this forum. Thank you.

While 1500 visitors a month is not much you should certainly get some conversions every now and then.
However without knowing the niche or the product it's difficult to estimate the conversion that you should be getting.

Here are a few things that you can try in order to improve your conversion:
    - rewrite the landing page, make it really simple for the visitor to order.
    - make sure you're targeting the right keywords in your campaign.
    - decrease the price of the product or offer some free bonus.
    - improve your design, make the site look safe and reliable.
    - offer live support, money back guarantee.

    Good luck!

You can easily check if this is the problem. Is it possible to lower the price for some period? If the price is the problem you can do nothing about it but you won't waste your time trying to fix something that actually works good.

On the product page we removed the main navigation bar (and the pathway), and shorten the header to make the product description & image as close to the top of the page as possible. We also made the "BUY" button bigger. Actually we put two "BUY" buttons - one at the top of the page and another at the bottom (our product page had lots of info on it and the visitors had to scroll to get to the bottom).

Hope this helps though I'm not an expert on this forum... yet :)

Low bounce rate is not necessarily good. I have a site that has over 50 pages with similar products. Bounce rate is around 80%. Average stay is a little over 2 and a half minutes. Conversions are around 13-15 percent. Everything changed for the better once I made several changes across the site. Put sales links throughout the copy. Used more words(emotional) that sell and changed out products to better ones that seemed to have better copy and a lower price even if it meant a cut in commisions. Bounce rate use to be around 40% conversions 2-3 percent and stay on site has increased by almost double.

Price can be a huge factor.
On a few sites I switched to a different merchant with commissions that were 4-7% instead of 12%. Turned out 4% was better than 12% of nothing and I think the brand recognition from the merchant adds a little comfort to the surfer when they buy a product.

I would check your goal funnel. Where are people going after they come to your product page? You might be highlighting a featured product or discount for another product on this landing page.

If most number of people are exiting the site after coming to product landing page, there might be something wrong with the landing page.. it might be too big, may not have testimonials, may leave customers with too many questions/options.

Without given url so I have clueless. This advice may be help :)

    1. Layout and Design - This mean everything and all elements, including the use of logo, icon, image, background color. If your site has too ugly looking so you cannot build trust toward your visitors. No trust = No buying motive

    2. Content Analysis - This is depend on the niche and your target visitors. You have to analyze to see what they do really wanted to see at the first glance. For example - If your product has a high price and you have discount coupon. Your visitors might expected this before made decision to buy.

    3. Sources of traffics - Are these visitors come from search engine / other site reference / direct? Which keywords are they coming from? Are these traffics come from "Buy Cheap Traffics"?

To add to what the others have said - have you gone through the process of sitting in front of the screen and trying to place an order from start to finish? - I've worked on sites where the conversion rate was low simply because the order form was too long and too complicated.
