Having My Cake and Eating It Too

    Hi Guys

    I'm Joanna Cake from the blog Having My Cake and Eating It Too. I've been blogging for nearly three years and when I told my friend, Softboy, how many people came to my site every day, he nearly fell off his chair.

    'You have that many visitors and you're not selling anything?' he gasped incredulously down the phone. 'You've lost thousands of pounds!'

    He's been looking at money generation techniques for a while and, at the first opportunity, he dragged me off to a three-day seminar to show me 'how to sell stuff online'.

    That was in November and on New Year's Eve, I sold made my first ever Clickbank Sale :)

    In January, I transferred my blog from blogspot to its own domain and started implementing some proper search engine optimisation and keywords. My traffic doubled and my Alexa ranking went from 2million to under 500,000 in six weeks... but the Page Rank bots just don't seem to want to know and I can't work out how to get back to the PR3 that I had before. Even though a large number of the people who linked to me before have changed their feeds to the new url, Alexa still only shows me as having 15 sites linking in, when I know there must be more than that because the old site had 123. (Of course, this is probably a question for one of the other sections, so I'll go have a look and see where I can put it.)

    Anyway, of course, I'm now hooked. And when someone recommended the Digital Point Forum as being a fount of all knowledge about these things, I thought I'd come over and check you out.

    So, here I am, introduced and ready to learn...

    JimGee: I wish that were true. Even with all that traffic, it's still hard to get sales. Which is why I have come to learn from the experts :)
