i was bored today so I decided I was going to be changing the header of my blog (which is being changed anyway). so, it will now be a parallax animation of a moving lemming that you can explode (domain is fragged.org, so duh). anyway, not done the exploding method. also not done the daytime backgrounds (clear sky and sun and green grass) - but it's getting there any comments or ideas appreciated. http://fragged.org/dev/lemmingParallax.php cheers!
What is the go with the 'Google Chrome Frame' download box that appears on your website? There is no close button on it (as far as I can see), so I tried to install it just to get rid of it and it says it doesn't support my version of windows (windows xp (not sp2)... this is my old computer and i'm a bit slack on updates). So there is no way to get rid of it when running windows xp and IE... just thought I'd point that out because it is fairly annoying, especially the fact that it doesn't have a close button and expects you to install it.
Also the fact that google is asking people to download this through a frame could be a bit of a security issue. I just realised I didn't even check the frame's source before I installed it.. mainly because I know that it is dimitar's website and I doubt that it would be dodgy... but still anyone could throw down a copy of that on a website with a virus attached...
But otherwise the little lemmings are a cool idea and it looks great, But there is only one of them walking across the screen for me at the moment.
erm ignore my site - i am getting a redesign done this week - once i finish the new theme for wp. and yes, - it supports many lemmings but not when scrolling the backgrounds, that can only be relevant to 1 lemming at a time...
Wouldn't it be easier just to use an animated GIF of the lemming walking? But then again, where is the challenge in that. It is a unique approach to animating an image...
yesh quite. but the point is - it will be fully interactive. you'd be able to stop it, explode it etc, do stuff to it that it will deal with and yes, the enjoyment of doing it from scratch, learning about animation principles and sprites etc... and the size - this works on ANY width / any element. not something a gif can do. update: it now uses a different day and night theme, which it will pick for the user based upon the time of day of the visit you can see both themes by using the change theme link
That's a good idea.. adjust the environment to the time of day.... I have never seen that before. Would you use your local time or the cleint local time? Being a blog I think that using your local time wouldn't be such a bad idea. Because the user already knows if it's daylight outside where they live, but they could use it as an indicator of the time where you live. It's getting late so if that sounds stupid i might be rambling a bit...
i am using the clientside time but this is an option i can pass on to the class now for the theme so i can do server also...
