Having a trademark domain redirect to another website, legal?

Say you have the domain "PayPalInfo.com" and it redirects to "3rdPartyPayments.com" - is this is violation of trademark/copyright laws?

Are you in the clear if you use another company's trademark in a domain you own as long as the domain redirects to another domain? If there is no site phyically hosted under the domain with the trademark in it - do they have a legal case?

This is definitely NOT legal. You are still using their trademark, even if you only use it to redirect to another site. Trademark law doesn't inquire into how much you infringe on their trademark. It's not a sliding scale.

OK that's the answer I figured I'd get. Was reading the Ebay post and someone told the guy to just redirect the trademarked name to his domain. To my knowledge I assumed this was still against trademark laws but figured i'd ask - since i'm in a similiar situation with a large company.

It's definitely illegal--I think someone else posted about transferring the domain from party to party and making eBay's lawyers chase...neither is a particularly smart idea. :)
