Pertaining to getting good PR, hits, adsense revenue, etc...

Would it be best to have a specific topic for a blog, or do you think a totally random blog about anything at all would do well?...

Personally I believe you will get more visitor loyalty if you try to keep your blog focused, at least in a general sense.

It doesn't have to be myopic, for example I have a blog that covers gaming, art, technology, and "culture" (ambiguity ftw), but I try to focus on the things that tie there subjects together. I think of my readers, and present information to them in a way that is familiar, and cohesive. My blog is still new, so we will see if this strategy is successful.

    just my two cents.

I'm not schooled on blogs...but that sounds like a good strategy to me :D

I think I'm just going to create a few different blogs...i like to write about all sorts of random things...so we'll see how that works...

though i'd still like more peoples opinions on this subject :D

I think you have to have a very catchy personal writing style if a blog about very random mix of topics is gonna be popular.

The blogs i see that are very popular usually has a certain main topic, but the writer puts in his own special interests now and then..
