Series one has just started in NZ but I heard about it months ago from a London friend of mine. It's totally lived up to expectations. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dragonsden/ There are so many people setting up websites who don't have business plans etc who would be ravaged by these guys for their lack of sense when spending their valuable time and money building up websites. I know the investment is low, but if you charge out your time to yourself the bill quickly rises! seBasic and co - did you watch it? Is there anything like it in the US?
I watched it and it was great. One of the successful website based businesses was http://www.squaremileinternational.com/ which offers wireless internet to marinas and harbours.
I really enjoy the outtakes where you get a view of the "not so lucky ones" who were in and out. Great watching. Does anyone know if they they have a DVD out? S
I love the series. It's my fav thing on TV! Does anyone know when the next series for the UK will start?
I've watched every episode so far, it's really addictive TV. I just hope with this, and The Apprentice, they don't 'kill' the whole business scene the way all those programmes killed the whole 'pop/showbusiness' thing. Yeah, I can still remember Bannatynes famous line with regards to this pitch "How big's the aerial?", then he said he was "out because this is not an investment" expecting all the other dragons to follow, but they loved it and saw the potential. Just look at the guy, he loves himself: http://duncan.bannatyne.co.uk/
Just watched it last night with the woman with the haute couture jewellery. Aaargh! I like that it's TV for grown ups that the kids (8&6) can watch and they're learning great concepts. But they love the Apprentice and Branson's show too. My 19 year old niece said "until this came on I thought I was over reality TV"
Awesome show, but that lady from 'red letter days' is an idiot... She lost it all (She left her company bankrupt) but still manages to make it onto the panel... Yah, she's a tool.
i still can not understand why she is still on the panel, but then again she might give some good advise on how not to go bankrupt.
I doubt it... She seems to choose what I would have thought were pretty crappy concepts with little scope for growth... Out of all of the people on the panel (None of who'm I actually like much), she is shes the only one who I have no respect at all for...
I love it! I think it has just finished here in UK. Some people come up with the strangest business ideas.
